you don't have the timing right. timing a dohc zc is harded then most hondas. Google it, when the timing is set right the cam gears appear to be off.

also in case anyone is wondering in Texas 25 years old automatically qualifies you as safety inspection only. No need to register it as a classic to get by emissions. I just got my 88 wagovan...

just delete the vacum diaphram, its a useless part. and buy some vac line caps to cap the opening on the intake manifold.

but there def shouldnt be any play in your clutch setup, can you move the clutch arm by putting a jack underneath...

I would Def replace the main relay or repair it if you can solder. this Def sounds like the issue and its a cheap and easy to fix. The first thing I do when I get a new ef is reflow the solder on...

one more idea is to check the blower motor relay. they fail somewhat commonly.

like i said i have measured them both one after the other. They are exactly the same with the exception of the d15b2 auto as mentioned in the link i previously posted.

As a matter a fact i have seen them side by side, I have seen the 88-91 d-series cam specs side by side straight out of Honda material. And i have physically used calipers and measured them. Check...

the a6 cam is literally the exact same lift and duration as a b2 cam. the only difference is the cam gear offset. you will gain nothing from this. the oem manual has all of that info.

Pretty much what i was thinking, but this motor will be daily driven and i was hoping to avoid running premium if it was feasible. I guess what im wondering is how much power will i lose having it...

just like the title says have recent mini me build and im wondering if i can get away with running it on 89 octane pump gas.
a6(overbored) with a y8 head according to zealworks that puts me at 10.55...

My suggestion is Dohc ZC using the wagon rt4wd setup. Seems simple and cost effective compared to most of the other ideas.
