Check the cheap stuff first --- 1 ) grounds ( price free ) 2 ) main relay ( price free for me because these relays almost never go bad --- the solder joints on the circuit board do -saved 40 -50 ...

Is it auto or stick ?
If auto : 1) check solenoid ( car in "N", remove power connector to Distrbtr, remove wire from started solenoid , use jumper wire -20gage will do- from battery to solenoid...

After I replaced the bearings in my 5speed ( 93 CX ) replaced with hd MTF --- 0 problems - after I replaced th clutch too , it's like driving a new go cart all over again .
Stick with OEM - a buck...

Main relay !! Pull it out, check the solder joints on the relay pins ---- they may need resoldered . ( it could save you about $50 and keep you from getting stranded , again ) reinstall and try it...
