99 accord 4cyl auto 230,000 miles approx.

So I think my transmission is finally going. If I just start the car and go I can drive in first gear anything else the the rpms just rev up then...

hmmmm....the car at random will get low on coolant and I can never find where its going....oil looks fine,....no wet spots in the drive way.....you might be on to something. And I shut the car off...

As for cleaning the EGR ports, I think I'll give that a shot. I looked in the FAQ section and noticed they have a write up for up to 97 accords,...

okay, swapped out the plug wires finally and still the same thing. Yes the car runs rough, like its going to die for about 30-60 seconds once it is started....then it smooths out and runs fine.

hmmm.... guess I'll start off by changin out the set of spark plug wires and see if that changes anything.

I pulled the plugs and they look to be fine, tannish in color. Pulled both 02 sensors, rear is good front looks to be little off color.

Cleaning the EGR ports, no I havent looked into that....

If you get down and look under the car from the pass side. Directly in front of the front tire inside the frame, you will see a bolt that a 3/8" ratchet fits into. That is the drain plug.

okay, car isnt warmed up, but I turned the ac on and neither fan came on. I unplugged the sensor on the bottom right of the radiator and jumpered both pins of that plug together and the fans did...

so check the thermostat switch? where exactly is that located? you say lower part of the radiator, is it actually screwed into the radiator? not sure if that fans come on when the ac is on or not. ...

There is this forum 1990-2002 and one for pre-88. This is an 89. I have always posted for this car in this forum. If it would be better suited in the pre-88, I will post it there. let me know.

Thanks for the reply. So the rotary air control solenoid can be cleaned also? Do you know if there is a write up to do it?

My 89 is fuel injected so would it be the same as the 1990 (write up)?

well I was almost sure it was the fans up front. One looks like its off balance a little and has been clicking once it shuts off. I unplugged each fan one at a time and with one or both unplugged...
