The input shaft bearing is not easily replaced with a non-OEM bearing. It's an angular bearing, very different from the standard radial bearing (such as the two that support the differential).

Well my roommate has a couple of carbide bits for porting aluminum and I use them all the time. They look like the ones on the right hand side of the pic posted above.

But the bits cost $20 each...

Harbor freight in general is awesome. Sure, the stuff breaks, but who cares - they exchange it for free. They have an awesome selection of hard to find tools and everything is dirt cheap.
