Update: I found that the heating starts to work when driving on the highway after 10-15 minutes. The air conditioning works fine though.

Just got back from Rosenthal Fairfax Honda. The reason the "check engine" light is lit is because the Idle Control Valve needs to be replaced. One of the technicians will have a new one installed...
