Re: ronald55555's 70' Dart Build

Sorry guys, not a whole lot to update on this car. I've been working working on the civic last year just to switch things up. I would really like to get it painted, but my paint guy is MIA right now....

Re: fast/easy fix for a stripped hole in the frame?

I would helicoil it if possible, that way you can still use the oem size fasteners and won't have 1 oddball fastener.

Re: ronald55555's 70' Dart Build

Not much happened in the past couple weeks since it's getting close to crunch time for our grad project, which is probably cooler than the dart build. We are working in the suspension system for...

Re: ronald55555's 70' Dart Build

It's finally back on its wheels after 5 months on the stands. Probably should raise the car a bit. Left wheel clears everything but right front hits the front edge of the fender, just need to adjust...

Re: ronald55555's 70' Dart Build

I started reassembling everything over the christmas break. I replaced the stock torsion bars with some 1.16" bars, which is as big as you could go since it's basically as big as the flats of the...

Re: ronald55555's 70' Dart Build

I didn't like how the stock strut rods work by binding a compliance bushing. After market units are expensive and the Hotchkis unit only has a rodend on the front of the strut rod. This would not be...

Re: ronald55555's 70' Dart Build

Restored everything I was going to reuse, replaced all bushings, balljoints. Control arms were bead blasted and repainted, lca was reinforced.

Re: ronald55555's 70' Dart Build

Taking apart the front suspension. It was much easier than I thought it would be, nothing was seized, didn't even have to swear once.

Re: ronald55555's 70' Dart Build

I also got the glass put back in after the headliner install, so I had a chance to drive it for a couple weeks at the end of the summer before I tear the front suspension apart. The Wilwood kit is a...

Re: ronald55555's 70' Dart Build

Unfortunately they still dont make the TE37V's in 5 lugs, but when they do, I'm getting them, doesn't matter how much they cost. There just aren't many american style wheels that I like, pretty much...

Re: help with GC top hat with KW ver3

Listen to Tyson, but I don't think he emphasized the severely the bottoming out scenario enough. First it's completely pointless. Second when you bottom out, your shock bottom will SLAM into the top...

Re: Can I use this proportioning valve?

I wasn't clear. A single after market prop valve is meant for cars with front/rear split. Some cars have diagonal split, some cars have front/rear. For cars with diagonal split, you need 2 after...

Re: Can I use this proportioning valve?

oem is diagonal split, after market is front/rear split. Look for the documentation of the prop valve on wilwood's site. I believe you will need 2 adjustable prop valves.

Re: ronald55555's 70' Dart Build

The wheel is out so far because I'm using a 5 on 4" to 5 on 4.5" adapter, which is 1" thick. The car comes stock with 5 on 4. Not an ideal solution for converting to big bolt pattern, I know. This...

ronald55555's 70' Dart Build

Just picked up my first dart(first domestic as a matter of fact) a couple of months ago. I've been looking for a 70/71 dart for several years, and finally found a original cali car with pretty much...

Just by coincidence I was reading a Mark Ortiz newsletter on the the same subject, although his article uses rwd as examples, some of the ideas still apply to a fwd. Below is a copy and paste of the...

Re: S2K AP2 cluster in 2000 civic EK (HATCHBACK GORILLA!)

I have a set of koni sleeves that i want to put on, but i notice they are quite a bit shorter than the GC sleeves. The koni sleeves are about 4" long, which is pretty much same as the GC front. For...

Re: How long did you wait to switch to R comps? (David S. Wallens)

I used street tires for my first season, then i bought a set of yoko A008 RSII for $100 used. used them for 1.5 seasons, and they still have the same amount of tread as when i first got them.
