Re: Turbo selection for 2.1L roadrace engine

That's what I meant. I already know how it runs with the current setup, so just need to do a back-to-back test with the WG plumbed as is vs vented to atmosphere (and plug the WG inlet on the DP, of...

Re: Turbo selection for 2.1L roadrace engine

What we’ll do is get the new engine and trans installed then tune the new setup as is. Once that is done, we can do some back-to-back runs with the wastegate plumbed as is and with it vented directly...

Re: Turbo selection for 2.1L roadrace engine

Oh the 10 PSI spring was just being used so we didn't blow up the engine with OEM internals. :) They're not known to hold a bunch of boost With the new engine the plan was to max the boost out as...

Re: Turbo selection for 2.1L roadrace engine

For the most part the fab work in the pic is the shop that's building the car. I did some myself that you can't see (suspension related items), and I did a bunch of design work and had the pieces...

Re: Turbo selection for 2.1L roadrace engine

Those pictures also don't show that the alternator was pushed to the left some. We're driving it off of the PS pulley on an ATI damper rather than driving it off of the 6-rib shell like stock. We did...

Re: Turbo selection for 2.1L roadrace engine

Here are a couple of the best views of the turbo setup that I have (I don't currently have the car here with me).

Re: Turbo selection for 2.1L roadrace engine

No the current engine has 100% stock internals - just the head has been milled a ton to get 10.6:1 CR and the head has been very slightly polished. The current setup made 280WHP on a Dynapak dyno on...

Re: Turbo selection for 2.1L roadrace engine

Asked for a clarification from the series director. He confirmed that "the exhaust" includes any device that carries exhaust from the engine, whether it's an exhaust in the traditional sense, outlet...

Re: Turbo selection for 2.1L roadrace engine

NASA CCR Section 11.4.22 Exhaust Exit:
The exhaust must exit behind and away from the driver compartment.

It's a pretty clear rule, and exiting anywhere in the engine bay is going to be a no go.

Re: Turbo selection for 2.1L roadrace engine

Doesn’t have to be recirc, but all exhaust has to exit behind the driver compartment. I can’t vent out the hood or anything like that.

Packaging constraints might make running the WG plumbing that...

Re: Turbo selection for 2.1L roadrace engine

I didn't think the recirc would cause a serious issue with the turbo where it is. Would moving the WG to the right a bit and merging the recirc tubing to be tangential to the downpipe make a...

Re: Turbo selection for 2.1L roadrace engine

Just for clarity, is that 380WHP or 380 at the crank?

Re: Turbo selection for 2.1L roadrace engine

Oh I don’t think I was clear with my original post. We aren’t having any issues that I know of with the GTX2867R. It runs just fine on the current engine, but since the current engine won’t handle us...

Re: Turbo selection for 2.1L roadrace engine

Totally get that part, and the flow from the wastegate is much better than what I have since it’s parallel to the exhaust flow. No argument there. Your post mentioned the recirc being too close to...

Re: Turbo selection for 2.1L roadrace engine

Yes, it’s certainly not ideal, but it’s plumbed in closer to the bend rather than being perpendicular to a straight section of tubing. It’s a compromise to keep the packaging as compact as possible....

Yes, what's wrong with that?

It already has a flex point, you just didn't see it in the pic.

Re: Turbo selection for 2.1L roadrace engine

I was hoping you’d reply! Unfortunately, I’m going to make it more difficult as I don’t have any dyno data with the engine that is going to be used, as it hasn’t been installed yet. The current setup...

Turbo selection for 2.1L roadrace engine

I’m looking for just a bit over 500 WHP max with the best response possible since it’s for a roadrace application. Engine is an 88x88 long rod F20B running roughly 11:1 static CR with Sunoco or VP...

Re: K tuned shifter?

It's not 100% plug and play, but can be installed in a 5Gen with a little bit of work. I'm using the OEM bracket on the trans, but KTuned makes an RSX cable specific bracket (have it, but have not...

Re: ULTIMATE Budget Race Car Trailer!!!!!

Had Air Lift bags on the back of our Tahoe when we towed the Prelude on an open deck trailer. Made a HUGE difference in ride quality and eliminated all the sag.

Re: ULTIMATE Budget Race Car Trailer!!!!!

I've always been leery of towing close to the limit of the rated specs for any vehicle. It seems that towing close to 10k lbs with the Tundra not only maxes out the towing capacity, but is likely to...

Sabelt Taurus XL vs Recaro Pro Racer HANS XL vs OMP HTE-R

I currently have a Sabelt Taurus XL in my car that's about to expire. I've been fairly happy with it (width, height, etc all feel great), except the unusually thick thigh cushion. I've been...

Re: euro r swap help

Why the P72? I don't recall any specific advantages of the P72 over the P28 when using NepTune, Hondata, etc.

Re: H22a with chiped p28 ecu runs like crap!! help.

Re: H22a with chiped p28 ecu runs like crap!! help.

I've run a P28 NepTune Demon ECU on my 1998 base model Prelude with no problems; used the OBD2 distributor and crank sensors without any issues. None of the wiring in the engine bay was changed;...
