well you could find a bigger nut and weld it on the bolt, then heat up the other side a little with a torch and twist it off while the outer metal is warm.
(heat expands metal)

hey guys, last time i got a new flywheel i was going to put some weights on it for extra balance, but i took the teeths off the flywheel and welded them to the clutch basket, is this ok?

if you are talking about SMAW arc welding, answer still stands but you will have to be pretty careful. i'd use a 3/32 or smaller 6010 running...

yes i've seen those, and plenty of other mid-engines (13b's, v8's, rb25's, etc.) in bugs in the past. since the engine is going to determine where the wheels are, and he isn't using all that space...

try using a grinder to get rid of the slag rather than a pick. weld some - grind off some, it will get rid of your slag inclusions a little more and you will have clean material to start back with.
