a minimal amount of play is ok. sounds more like an axle seal where the shaft goes into the differential. make sure it is oil and not grease.

if the alternator isnt putting out any current then you wont be able to jump start it. the battery will only be able to run the car so many times for a little bit. flickering and shutting down...

usually when a hg is leaking, the pistons are clean. not to mention, u will be able to see where on the headgasket it is messed up. that looks more like bad blow by than ne thing else.

dude, timing belts dont squeak, 8 times out of ten the alternator belt is the only one that will squeak, just tighten the alt belt, dont mess with the t-belt unless it is due to be replaced.

where are u getting spark? is it a good spark or is it weak, distributors go bad all the time. it depends on how over full u are with oil, and how cold it is, it will usually just cause a slow crank...

you definately blew the differntial, and yes you need to replace the tranny. the same thing happened to me, if you cracked the case thats never good and always means ur S^%#'s busted.

just use a little pb blaster or break away, on the screw, try to do that first, use a bigger screwdriver second, and third, if that doesnt work, remove and clean the iac, or try to find a new tps......

your best bet would be to go with a b16 tranny with an ls final drive, 5th gear in a y1 or j1 tranny is killer to gas and it's kind of annoying if you have a loud exhaust. thats the best thing i did...
