try sitting still at idle and pumping your brake pedal. if the car kills, you have a vaccuum leak. chances are the brake booster is bad from the master cylinder leaking fluid into it. less likely is...

i have the exact same problem on my 88 DX. i replaced the tank, pump, and level sensor with no luck. i even tried running it without the "sock" on the pump and it still stalls when braking with 1/4...

possibly a vaccuum leak at the brake booster...

if you are at a stop, with it running, can you make it kill by hitting the brake pedal? if so, then its the brake booster. my 88 was doing it...
