The Honda Insight makes 24 less hp, which is why is has better mpg.

The Civic EX 5MT is 26/34/29 and the 5AT is 25/36/29. It does not get better mileage than the CR-Z.

I hear what you are saying about options. It would be cool if Honda offered the new Civic hatch with the options that you are interested in (4 discs, moonroof, etc.)

The second gen is more of an evolution of the first gen. So it is a complete model change but not as radical as say the current Civic and it's previous generation for example.

Apparently Fit's sold in other markets are made such that the gas door (not cap) will only open when the key is in the ignition.

But they took that away for the US version. That's lame.

Current gen 04-07 TLs as far as I know dont really have transmission problems.

The previous generation 99-03 TLs and last gen CLs did have transmission problems. Especially the Type-S variants.

If the Fit had Active Head Restraints like the civic, the rear collision scores would be much better.
