Re: Water pump question... (I3ooS710)

I've heard of cases where the pump impeller fins have corroded and leaves the pump spinning but no coolant flow is being created. My coworker came from working on saturns and said it would...

Re: Cold Start AFR? (red_sir)

there is no "ideal" ratio for a cold start. It all depends on engine temp. When the engine is started, the ECU initially only looks at the coolant temp signal and the crank signal, until stable...

Re: OBD2 code p1337?????? (teg_b18c1)

check the circuit between the crank sensor and the ecu, wiggle connectors while watching an ohmeter for continuity. If it comes on right away, there is probably an open or short somewhere. if it...

Re: (Hybrid93Hatch)

you won't be able to test it with a multimeter, they don't refresh fast enough. If you have a fluke meter with the bar graph, you can count the cycle rate, but it's still tricky. Check the heater...

Re: NEED HELP w/ spark problem asap! (10seceg)

Damn, you replaced all that crap already. You gotta get back to the basics before you spend a butt load on parts that won't fix the problem. Do you have a wiring diagram? I Highly recommend you get...

dude, he said backordered. That means they could be out of the country and very well could take a while to get. However, he deserves to know what is being ordered, and the service writer should...

Re: Should I blueprint my injectors? (nmhybridog)

hell no, it's not worth 400 bucks! Yes, if the injectors SIT with gas in them for a few years, they will gum, but not if they have been run over the past few years. I would say go to a cheap junkyard...

Re: Bad Sputtering, Frustration!!!!!!!!!! Im going to drive my car off a cliff! (Swags04)

Map sensors can cause some crazy engine performance at anytime, and don't always set a code. Sometimes they still test good with a vaccuum pump and DVOM. It is sometimes best to plug in a known good...

Re: A/F Gauge (Quantum_CRX)

Are you sure you don't have that backwards? The engine is not in closed loop very much, really. Start-up and time out, cold engine op, decel, and moderate to heavy accel are all performed in open...

Re: ac question- please help im running out of deodorant (jazz215)

If you have no refrigerant, the A/C amplifier will not turn the compressor on and therefore the condensor fan will not operate. There are usually two pressure switches, one of them will open below a...

Re: Alternator or bad wiring? (nevin)

just use a DVOM and measure charging system voltage at the alternator output terminal and a good ground. You should have over 14 volts. Test the same thing at the battery terminals in the trunk, it...

Re: What's wrong with this Alignment spec sheet? (tub_sephiroth)

WTF? They didn't even do a caster sweep? And what the hell do you mean they said the rear toe is too hard to do? You can't do a productive alignment without first setting the rear toe. Rear toe is...

Re: Ecu water damage? How bad is bad? (4crx4me)

Well you can try cleaning the terminals off a bit, but like he said, the only way to tell is to try it out and be sure that everything else is OK before condemning the ECM, pretty expensive part to...

Re: Clutch noise (Neptune)

As for the squeek, it sounds like the clutch fork pivot points are dry. Have you pinpointed the whining noise to the tranny. Does it only occur when driving in gear? Does it do it at a standstill...

Re: car wont start... (USDMDC2)

Check the battery first. If you get a single click when you turn the key over, it is the solenoid contacts inside the starter. They can be replaced by themselves if you want to save some money; we do...

Re: R/S ratio (dohcsideSi)

Finally, someone agrees with me. R/S ratio is not THE performance factor. It all depends what you want the motor to do and how the rest of the engine was designed/modified.

Re: car wont start! (illusion)

Probably a bad battery caused by a bad alternator. Once the car was started, it should've been fine, unless the alternator was not putting out enough current. That would explain why it stalled with...
