Weekend race results?

This has gotten out of hand..
thumbup to the F5 driver to clearify what happened...
And yes Drew, with a car a foot off your bumper, you do get distracted for a second while checking your mirrors.. Mind you, its 100mph by the time you get straight coming out of T10.. Start finish isn't "that" far down the straight..
Anyone who has ever been in a tight battle at speed like that would understand..

I disagree. Drivers may be doing 100mph but it's a fair distance between where you can see the flag station and where S/F actually is. A close battle should never be a legitimate excuse for distraction... no matter how short it was. We've all done it (I know I've blown a yellow before) but that doesn't mean it's valid racing behavior.
These comments are independent of the incident this weekend are based on my perspective of racing in general.

No one is arguing that Corey. Does that however absolve the drivers of the responsibility of watching what is happening in front of them?
And for the record I never said anything about mirrors.

Re: Weekend race results? (FLATOUTRACING)
I was flagging this weekend. T1 all day Sat. T4 all day Sun. I wanted to point out a few things. first, I try to do my best to keep you racers/students/instructors as safe as can be. sometimes you guys don't even look at us. Most do but some do not.
second, regarding the F5 incident...The flagger in T1 was a BSR employee who does control for their events and actually was control for Friday seat time. He called that there was glass and a battery on the track and in his opinion there was a course blockage. Control cannot see so they took his word and for your safety they called red flag.
third, the start of the race where you saw a double yellow in T5, if that is the only place you saw it then you missed it in T3. Our instructions that morning for the split start were to keep the double yellow out UNTIL the green flag for the Second group. The cars were too spread out and the second group had to slow up too much and the first group had green and were coming toward me in T4 and I had not heard green flag on the second group but I pulled my flags because your group was under green. T3 and T5 did what the chief of F&C told them to.
I am new to this board and am not picking on anyone but sometimes a few facts can help.

I'm not saying its an excuse, but, its more of a reason to see the flag later than the leading porsches and shugg.. I know I check my *** everytime I exit the corner, that extra 1 sec that you look when someone is really close could have been the difference
I just don't think its appropriate to rip the guy a new one..

FYI - The 2 Porsches were drafting each other out of T10 just like the Cobras were.

I assumed this was the case. Because of the situations of the day, there was not an oportunity to reinforce this with the students in group 3. Sounds as if it was a unique situation and will be addressed in the future.
There has been a lot of debating and fact checking over the events of the weekend (Mainly the racing incident). My hope is that everything is taken constructively and something positive can be taken from this to improve things in the future.
Thank you for being a flagger! Without you guys we could not get out and play each weekend. I make it a point to give a wave and a at the end of each session to every station.
