Opinions on dd/track/autox tires
Have been researching a good all around tire for next year. I am not worried about being overly competitive, I have a lot of relearning to do. Just started autox again this year after a 7yr hiatus. But need to be able to drive to the events on the tires. No more than hour each way for autox or track events. I am considering (205/50/15):
kuhmo xs
RA1
RIR
R888
RE11
ADO8
I am back and forth between the xs, r888 and AD08's. Just looking for some personal experience on some of these tires.
Oh, the car is a '00 hatch.
Thanks!

can't go wrong with the r1r. r888 is a r comp, so like teg said, make sure it's okay.
have you look into the star specs? the new ones are coming out soon.

On the other hand, I've been told by the serious race crowd that the only people that run 888's are the ones that have to by the rules or those that get them for free.
I actually have a lot of laps on them in a Miata that has just a basic sporty suspension, they seem OK, but don't really like to be pushed too hard.
I don't think they make them in 15", but I have a set of the BFG KDW on my M3 daily driver. They do pretty well on the street and hold up like iron on the track. Some driving schools run them on their cars.

RS3's are what I would run if I could. Many guys I know have done testing with them and they now are classified in thier own catagory where I run. Top notch tire.

But I guess there's a good reason no one runs them...

Hankook hit the nail on the head with the RS3 this year! Fast and didn't give up too much on street drive-ability and wet traction.

I run in SM when I autox. I would run the RS3 but don't think my wheels are enough for the only size they have in 15". They would be going a set of rota subzeros, not ready to put money into a better set of wheels yet. I will take a closer look at the RE-11's and RA1. The R888 were a second choice.

No, but that is the next tire that is going on the beater Meotter.
Good all arounder are the Hankook RS3s. Best street tire i know of that can compete with r comps.

Re: Opinions on dd/track/autox tires
I'm a big fan of the Dunlop StarSpecs, though they are available in 205/50-15 and not the 225/45-15 that the Hankook RS3's are.. I always found the StarSpecs to perform well in autox, handle the heat at the track, wear very well and last a long time, and handle water/rain pretty well. A lot of these max performance street tires are scary in the wet. I don't know what's up with the new StarSpecs people are talking about, but hopefully they're at least as good as the old ones.

Re: Opinions on dd/track/autox tires
Some guys in our local auto x group run the 195/50/15 r1r, they said this size gives them better times, I'm getting theses for next year income tax,
I'm running Dunlop dz101, daily n auto x, 195/50, they feel good I'm sure the star spec r a tad bit better

Re: Opinions on dd/track/autox tires
i have run both r1rs and r888s in 195/50r15. the 888s have a lot more sidewall roll but can hold a line a lot better. for me it was actually a problem. i like having a little oversteer.
i have tried the re11s and i loved them. next set of tires i get will be those
