Re: New Car to Build, Which one, POLL
I grant you that it may cost $40k to build a car that exploits all the allowances and sources the "best" (priciest?) bits for everything, but I assure you that it is possible to build a competitive car for much less money. There are some things that only more money can buy, but a fast race car isn't one of them if you focus solely on making it work better and avoid the blingy stuff that doesn't materially enhance performance. And who wants to win just because they outspent their competitors? It's more fun to watch the faces afterwards when your competition learns you are using Tokico Illuminas and Intrax lowering springs.

integra.
-good wheelbase, 1" master w/o making brake lines, rear disc, abs if u like are all there. -parts avail. for the teg and ek civic are all about the same.
-teg has better aero than the civic hb.
-new strut suspension civics and rsx are terrible handling cars and would cost you more money to start
the list could go on and on.
maybe i missed it earlier in the thread. but what is this car being built for? those weights are too light for HC

Those weights are the rules in Panama. The integra is the winner so far. I want to built it with a K20/6speed tranny

Its an open class. Any mod to the engine is allowed as long as it does not go over 2000 cc na. Chassis, suspension, tranny, etc has no limit, you can do what ever u want. Weight limts are on the first page. Wheels not bigger than 17s.

So basically there is no real limit to the horsepower the cars can make, nor are there any limits to suspension, chassis or transmission. Sounds to me like the lightest, best-handling car wins.

Well friends it looks like I went to something else. I was offered a DC5 Integra Type R at a really good deal. 220 hp, better gear ratio, brembos, etc.

Dang how much I want one LOL
when I went to Miami I notice there were a lot of companies importing JDM cars that were legal to drive on the street or something like that.

Very nice this compaired to a RSX will handled better it is a Type R and a different set and chassis if anything you want to make it rotate better thru the turns because it should be tuned for street/track. I would be very careful to modify perfection if you throw cheap part at it you will mostly likely make it handle worse. I would personally keep it the way it is and tune from there to match tracks and driving style and most certain have a hard time tunning it rare car in the USA maybe better luck overseas you will be a pioneer so keep us in touch gl.

Not sure how much $$$ you have but early this year RealTime Racing was trying to get rid of all of there RSX parts. Might be worth a call to them to see what/if anything they have laying around.
