Default ITR Brake Conversion On 2000 Si

Hey guys, I just put ITR brakes on my 2000 Si and I had a couple of questions. I'm running Gran Sport 6 pads with OE rotors. After going through the bedding procedure I still have to apply a bit more pressure to get the same amount of stopping power than I did with OE pads and rotors. So the questions are:

1. Is there something wrong or is this fairly normal when using the stock master cylinder with this upgrade?
2. Would upgrading to the ITR 1" master cylinder be a good idea and/or help alleviate this issue?

It was certainly a worth while upgrade, once I really get on the brake pedal there is FAR more stopping power than stock and it's a lot easier to modulate. I just need to figure out what the deal with the pedal pressure is. Thanks for the input guys.

1) Its normal , mine was like this as well when I put ITR F&R calipers on my EM1
2) Correct, ITR 1" MC w/ stock booster will do it. I upgraded to 1" MC and it's much firmer, not as easy to modulate tho.

Are you saying the pedal _force_ is what higher, or pedal travel? The 1" mc will increase the force you need to apply, while reducing the travel. So if you are looking to decrease pedal force, the 1" mc won't help. If you're looking to decrease pedal travel it will. I've never heard of Gran SPort 6 pads though, so my guess is the "problem" is with your pads.

They're made by Satisfied, Gran Sport 6. It's similar to Hawk HPS in terms of composite and application type. I'm looking to reduce the pedal travel more than the pedal pressure and it sounds like the ITR master should help that from what you guys are saying, thanks for the input.

what solo-x said is correct and should be understood before you make any changes. a 1" mc will not make your pedal effort easier. you probably just need a better pad. something hp+ like.

The effort is because of the pads, the travel is because of the mc. When they pads get warmer they start to work a lot better so its just a matter of pedal travel at that point.

Default PADS, NOT MC

I agree with the other two guys that you likely have a pad issue, not MC. And imho, your pad choice is less than optimal for a track car.

I have ITR calipers on Autozone rotors using the oem 2000 Si MC and prop valve. Very little pedal pressure needed. Carbotech XP10 front and Porterfield rear.

Pedal pressue less than or on par with my daily driver EK.

After doing some evaluating I'm pretty sure you guys are right about the pads sucking. It's odd because I've had these pads before and they worked well but they seemed to have changed the formula.

ohh, just on a side note, seems as your paying attention to brakes, a little header wrap or thermal wrap around the ball joint goes a long way

I still run the stock SI set up and have never had any problems. all i did was run hawk blue pads in the front and hawk black pads in the rear. I took my break setup from the SCCA Showroom B guys (they all have different pads they like but this was my starting point).
