Cutting out lower core support...
Does the lower portion of the core support provide any torsional stiffness to the chassis?
Let me explain what I am inquiring about... running a FullRace traction bar utilizes the 3 bolt holes on each side of the frame rail where the factory tow hooks mount. Now the traction bar is chromoly, and likely much stronger than the metal used across the lower core support. The traction bar runs literally right below it.
Why would I do this? Save some of the weight that was added mounting a chromoly tube from side to side... but the main reason is to then use the traction bar for mounting the radiator which brings it about an inch lower with the ability to angle the radiator forward for a hood exit duct.

As a fabricator of both chassis and custom components, it would be perfectly fine to remove the lower core support for that you stated. As for the stiffness of the chassis in this mod, I can not say with certainty that it is a weakening of the structure. Though, with the added replacement of the traction cross bar you should have ZERO problems structurally supporting the rad and front end that way.
Personally, I do not think that part adds any significant torsional support or chassis strength. It appears to be a cheap way of hanging multiple items and brackets for a mass produced car. Fabbing a specific part for the intended purposes needed is far more interesting to look at and personally rewarding too.

I appreciate the response and that was my mentality towards it being just a flimsy piece to hold things in place rather than provide structure.

It is really considered a crush component. I.E., to slow and control an impact in a certain area to protect the passenger compartment. That is why very small fender benders throw these cars way out of whack to get everything aligned right.
Truth be told, I wish I thought of this before I just revamped my core support for the custom hood project I am finishing. I kept the lower brace and built additional support off of it. I added about 13lbs of weight in the process but it is a drag car and the weight is at least on the front slicks. Saved weight in other places and add weight where needed ya know.

Something like this is also an option for mounting. Might be useful for mock up before any welding was done.

On that same note. Anyone running a carbon fiber hood with pins and no hood support? Think I remember seeing the SS auto works crx just had a small support bar there

While lifting the front of the car in one shot would be awesome, I plan on welding or bolting splitter brackets to the lower tow hook points. I guess quick detachment of the splitter could make that a possibility. I really wanted air jacks until I found out you need a ton of pressure to operate them, more than most air compressors can even put out. Nitrogen or C02 tanks are really needed.
