Auto-x class sizes
I've been checking results from the surrounding regions to see what kind of times people have been running and how many in my class. I'm STS-2 and i'm hoping to get up to E-town this weekend (in the rain ) and I didn't see anybody running in this class. Is this class not an option or does nobody really run in it yet? I have yet to see a STS-2 time on any results sheet. Is it lumped in with STS?
Thanks

Re: Auto-x class sizes (88 rex)
It's not an official class yet - it's new this year and if it makes the required number of entries at national events, it will be considered for permanent status.
Not sure where the times would be lumped, not STS, since STS-2 is theoretically faster.

WDCR SCCA approved STS2 and STU at the end of last year. I'm sure it will be national before you know it. I haven't seen much participation personally, comparatively speaking.

Re: Auto-x class sizes (Mr Hammond)
DC did approve the two new ST classes.
In the first event of '05, there were 6 STU entries, but no STS2 entries.
I'm not sure how STS2 will do this year. At the local level, many of the cars already do well in other classes (CSP, ES, and GS for the CRX and Miata). And other potentially popular cars are ineligible because of LSDs or displacement (1.8L Miata, MR2).

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by 88 rex »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">I guess i'll have to win local events in STS-2 by default...... </TD></TR></TABLE>
Find all the ES entrants who are in 90-93 Miatas and convince them STS2 is the place to be. The early Miatas should be out of favor in ES now that the 94-97 1.8L cars are there.

don't know about up there, but in the N Texas region we seem to get 3 or 4 STS-2 entrants per event (including me ) I'm sure it just needs some time to grow. G/L this season
