Any Bad things to say about a Quaife QDF6U LSD?
Long and boring story short for the past year or so I've wanted to put an LSD into my gsr. I can now finally afford a good one, so for the past few days I've been reading up on types and brands of LSD's. Ultimatly I have been looking for the best LSD for road racing/autocross for the money. I've looked at Cusco, Carbonetic, Kazz, and Quaife. So far I'm pretty set on the Quaife QDF6U LSD.
I just want to see if anyone has any bad things to say about Quaife LSD's in general. I've always known them to be pretty good quality, but still at $800 its an investment so I want to hear from other people that own them and have owned them before I press the order button.
A friend of mine has a Quaife LSD in his weekend track car. He kindly let me drive it and I was nothing but impressed. He has nothing but good things to say about it. If there is another LSD that you would recommend for road racing, not drag, I'd greatly appreciate it if you would share your information.
Thanks in advance for your input.

If its a street car that sees track duty then I think its a great LSD. I prefer a clutch type LSD but would not install one on a car that I frequently drive on the street.....and you have PM.
Thanks for the PM, really appreciate it. You're spot on; it's a street car that sees track use so a clutch type is not for me(at least by my understanding its not).
i'd use my clutch type on the street. with the right fluid, its not harsh at all.
but yea, the quaife is great for what you need. i ran one for years. you will over it over a stock open unit.

I tried every fluid combo possible with the Kaaz LSD in my wifes rally car, off road its a dream......on the street its a nightmare.

Nothing but good things to say about the Quaife units from all my past experiences. Its a perfect diff for those that see street and track use. Just tracked a car this weekend at Gingerman that had a Quaife and was impressed with it once again! As Lo-Buck stated you can play with fluids to get the right fluid mix to make daily driving a little more friendly....But, then when it comes to track days you may want to swap the fluid out to get a little more use out of the differential. Also keep in mind that at some point a clutch type is going to require a rebuild and more frequent fluid changes depending on track time etc.
Thanks for the kind words guys. I make sure we keep plenty of 6U's in the warehouse so there's always adequate supply. If anyone has any Quaife questions or concerns, feel free to pm or e-mail me anytime.
Anyone have any experience with Wave Trac? Seems like another viable option, but I don't know much about them aside from talking to the rep at PRI a couple years ago.
I am impressed with the Mfactory Final Drive quality and it still works after a relatively brutal race season. In the off season I'm looking to purchase their Helical LSD for my ITA CRX.
It's also about $120 cheaper than the Quaife. Just as an FYI, I'm also a big fan of the Quaife, can't go wrong there.

Wow glad to see a few big names as well as quaife in here backing their product. Definitly the way I'm going to go.
for Quaife
for Quaife
Note -- if you are ready to buy a Quaife order it before Sept 14th as the price on them is scheduled to go up by about 10% on Sept 15th
Google it if you're not sure of the difference.
Clutch-type is faster ultimately, but it's not for everyone.
