How to remove cat heat shield
I have a 98 Odyssey LX 4 cyl.
The heat shield is rattling and I would like to remove and replace it. Is it possible to remove the heat shield without disassembling the exhaust?
I'm concerned that if I remove the bolts, the bottom of the shield will come right off, but the will there be room between the cat and body to remove the top half of the shield?
Thanks,
Mitch

Re: How to remove cat heat shield
its simple to remove the bolts and drop the lower shield and remove the upper shield if thers an o2 sensor going through the top shield just cut out a piece of the shield so you can get the shield off with out removing the o2 sensor. if the shields so rusted that you cant remove the bolts use a pry bar to pry the shields off. good luck

You can also put a hose clamp around the heat shields and tighten it down to keep them from moving. Its quick and you dont have to worry about damaging the 02 sensor wires.
