Re: wat kinda of paint job is this?
considering i cant see it up close. it looks like a base/clear or base/pearl to me. theres alot of basecoat paints that have a flop in them as well that arent 3 stage, high concentrations of mettallics or pearl effect that will show up in certain light at certain angles. that doesnt look deep enough to be a candy paint, but it may be, and considering how the rest of the car looks as opposed to that spot under fluorescent lighting it doesnt look like a candy. but it looks like orange base/yellow pearl or just straight orange base/clear. thats a very nice orange and might just be a high concentrated mettallic with a formula for lots of yellow mettalic or pearl effect in the base. orange is consisted of alot of yellow and depending on the formula can be higher yellow pigment of base, or depending on the effect they want, tons of yellow flake or base/pearl effect.

Re: wat kinda of paint job is this?
that is not the same color as the mustang stitch. and just so ya know, any three stage paint can be mixed as a base/clear. instead of adding the midcoat pearl, they just add it to the base with a pearl effect. Now it does not look exactly the same since the midcoat does add much more effect than mixing it in the base , but just because it is a 3 stage paint from the factory or the formula calls for a midcoat, does not mean that it was sprayed that way, alot of shops will use the basecoat formula instead of spending more money and time spraying the midcoat(production shops mostly). just thought you may want to know that for future reference. your civic does not really look like a true 3 stage base/pearl/clear. looks like a pearlbase/clear but im sure pictures dont do the car justice
yes sir. custom paint shop, high end work.

Oh god that Mustang color is beautiful.
Anyway, thought I'd share pics of my 81 Accord with tri-color paintjob. Separate base, pearl and clear.

Crappy pics tho. The effect is much intense IRL.

Re: wat kinda of paint job is this?
i know my color is not the same but what you have to really looks is the curve of the body. look at the mustang where it curves it a brighter color. if my ep3 had more curves to it it would be the same effect.

Agreed with Impatient looks like a base-clear effect. Paint these days with the pearl effects are a dime a dozen. Where it looks to be a tri-coat but isn't, they just have a ton of pearl in them. I do alot of work for lexus, and they have about 8 different tri-coat colors they offer on their new cars. And i know on half of those you can turn them into just a base-clear application. And i only know that because i hate sprayin tri-coat, so i try to skip a step makes things move a little quicker.

Ok here it is it is a tri coat color. It's a badass color but i will warn you it is expensive paint and it is a bitch to spray. But over all if it's done right it is a nice color to put on anything.

O hai thar!
BTW heres a better picture of the effect:

And yeah, its a bitch to spray and match later on. My quarter panel was hit while back and had to redo the paint twice since the color is off, even with the same paint mix.
