Default Ever painted a chrome grille?

Just curious if anyone has painted their chrome grille another color?

I wanted to do this to mine but wasn't sure if I sanded down the chrome if the paint would adhere after. Anyone try this with luck?

My car is silver so I wanted to paint the chrome part silver and the center part all flat black.

from what i learned all you do is sand down til the clearcoat is off then paint over with 2-3 coats of color then 2-3 coats of clear. should hold up for years depending on sun and how much u drive it.

I'm concerned specifically about the chrome part. Is it a bad idea to sand it down and repaint?

Is it chrome, or chrome paint over plastic? Big difference. If it is chrome paint over plastic than just sand it off treat it as you would plastic any other time. If it is a real chrome grill I would try to sell it and buy a plastic one for $25.

I'd be very surprised if it steel dipped in chrome. You should be able to tell if it is plastic. If it is, sand it down just like anything else.
