A sharp one. Mask the area in case you slip. Don't over think it.

use a carbide drill and back up the area with something like wood or a piece of plastic to keep from splintering the laminate when it breaks through

any sharp drill bit would work as long as you know how to use it start with a small drill bit to get you started then drill with the actual size bit you want it to be to get the diameter you want, but before any drilling is made i would clean the surface and put some of them blue masking take to hold the clear coat so that it doesn't crack on you.

Tinite coated drill bits and slowly. As others have said place a block of wood under it to support.

I dont know why people are tellling you to use exspensive drill bits, the carbon fiber isnt going to dull your drill bits. Just use HSS drill bits and take your time, dont try and bust through as quickly as possible. Also use a backer like wood or something also use painters tape over and behind where you are going to drill at as it will keep the chips down too. if it does chip you might need some gelcoat or clear coat or whatever they use to seal it back up.

Maybe because I make my living in engineered composites and happen to know that carbon fiber is highly abrasive. - Youi can get away with quality HSS for a short bit but it will fail. If your part is important to you, why chance it? I'm inclined do do things right whenever possible.

I don't see how drilling holes, more than likely for washer nozzles, will dull any drill bit that fast.

my friend cut through my freshly painted cf hood with a regular drill and dremel with absolutely no prep work, taping off the area, or wood underneath for support. no chips or peeling clearcoat.

you guys worry too much.

I'm drilling into my fenders from carbon creations I was thinking to use a titanium bit with a block of wood behind it I'm just worried because I've heard of people pulling the material while drilling
