try cuttin all the rust spot out then weld it back together.then patch it up with that bondo.you might want to pull your interior because if theres rust there must be more hiding somewhere.

like they said, they make stuff that is supposed to neutralize rust, but i would not count on it. cut it to good metal or all your time, and money will for sure be wasted.

I did the same patch, after sanding I had some holes and came back to fill it again and sanded it back down, after primer I look at it and not likeing it do I have to go back and sand it down, it takes time to get it right. Bondo and JB weld <3 them

There is a glaze/icing putty that you use to fill the finer voids that the standard stuff leaves behind. Good luck to ya man. I'm in process of welding in new patch panels.

Wow, uh the great bondini strikes again.

Well to help you out on this temporary fix, and I mean temporary, you will want to use a heaver grit paper to knock down the filler like an 80 grit, then work your way up from there. Then use a 2 part finishing putty to skim it and sand that with 220, prime it and paint it...

It isn't going to last though, and I am not hating I am just straight up telling you how it is, in fact it will be worse for corrosion due to the fact that the bodyfiller will abosr and retain moisture.

I'm in Toronto too. Look up paintcircuit.com. They can match the colour. No paint codes required.

By the way I think you need glazing putting. Good work so far
