Want to stance Cavalier
I have an 02 Cavalier ls 4dr fully stock (motor will stay that way... LOL) Not wanting to do too much cosmetic changes but I think it'd look good on a stance. Has this ever been done to a Cavy/can it be done?
thanks

Re: Want to stance Cavalier
there have been a few that have "stanced" a j-body but IMO it looks like pure ***.
it depends on how much camber and how low you really want to go but to get it so far like some of the nut bag honda guys do you'll need some custom parts.
for a good performance and handling oriented coilover set id go with the standard R5 kit. they come with pillow ball mounts front and rear and the fronts have camber adjustments. they are also dual height adjustable so you can adjust the strut body as well as the spring height to nail down that perfect ride as well as cornering. they are spendy at around $1800 though.
next setup id go with would be the tein ssp's. they are just as nice just dont offer dual height adjustment BUT DO offer the electronic dampening force control kit (adjust stiffness inside car via electronic box)
both will go rather low. std's will probably go lower though.
and lower than that and you'll need to do some custom knuckle relocation mounts and rear axle lower relocation mounts.
some have done wheel spacers to achieve a good look, most do just the rear as the j-body has a slightly narrower track so it looks goofy if you dont even it out.
some even get camber shims to go between the rear hubs and axle for more adjustment.
if you want more camber in the front you'll need to either slot the top of the strut towers AND/OR get the half-inch-longer n-body control arms (which also have an aluminum option from the 99 model year so save some un-sprung weight)
all n all id say your in for one hell of a time to get the stance some of these guys around here have acomplished. hit up www.j-body.org. look up jeff wybrow, jay vander meulen, staticav, tim transporter, and strat81 to see some stanced cars. most are conservative and believe in function over form though so dont be surprised if you get a bit of flaming going on over there.

Re: Want to stance Cavalier
that red one is one of the ones i was referring to.
this guy is probably the best "stanced" one. looks like *** IMO but to each their own...
and this one is the best function over form one and basically one of my favorite cavalier's ever. mind you this car runs mid 12s on a turboed stock engine, stock clutch and at full weight.
