I really need a cheap truck. And I've found a 97 dodge ram 1500 5.2v8. I checked the truck today and it seems to have been well maintained. Starts right up and goes. Shifts smooth and pulls pretty nice. Everything works...p/w p/d a/c heat etc. Overall seems pretty good. He wants 2k. Here is the kicker...its got 258k miles!! Never owned American made vehicle's. Just kinda weary of it. But seems to be well cared for.

Anyone own one? Or know someone who does? Pull the trigger? Just your opinions.....

well on THOSE trucks, watch for a cracking dash (horrible), heater cores, and all dodge product TRANSMISSIONS like to fail radomly

owned a 97 dakota, 5.2L auto and 4wd with 217k. had a newer engine and trans each with under 100k. dodge auto trannies are not super reliable. guessing with 258k, most everything has been replaced. for 2k and if you're looking for a beater, sounds like a solid pick up
