Funny to see the people's reaction.
If you don't like, you're a hater. Pathetic.
Imo, i really like your car! We didn't have this car here in France. maybe the black tainted taillights i don't really like. It could look a lot better if it was lower.
But, i'm agree with some of here, you should go on Honda, more parts available, the cars are sweeter.

Re: My '98 Cavalier Z24...
Theres no doubt Honda has more aftermarket support than anyone else. Thats why I bought a dc2 for autocross and other track events.
But theres alot of support out there for J-bodies and the LD9 twin-cam. And there is plenty of these cars out there making alot of power. I just like it because you don't expect to see these things even breaking tripple digit trap speeds and there are 500hp cavys and sunflowers out there and there holding together!
Another interesting aspect was this is a car you could special order a Eaton M45 blower for from the factory with warranty and the power gains were comparable to that of a jrscGSR.

Re: My '98 Cavalier Z24...
thanks for all the comments, guys!
and yes lol i know its an auto. but again, i didnt build the car to be a maximum performer. i built it so i could get in and drive it car shows, cruize around and just be civil. like i said, i have another one thats the 5 speed car and its ***** to the walls for the most part.
hahaha drum brakes ftl, i totally know. fixing that with a saturn rear disc conversion. i have the conversion bracket and all of the braking hardware just need to tear it all down have the parts cleaned/powdercoated or cadmium plated and get some custom 5X100 drilled/slotted rotors with hawk street pads. then she be set.
as for lower, id love it to be but i dont really want to be scraping on stuff and i would really not like it if my custom one off a gm concept car front lip were to get destroyed!
as for the potential part, its there i just dont need 500whp in this car. 350 will be plenty im sure.

Re: My '98 Cavalier Z24...
should check out the JDM toyota cavalier with it's widened front fenders, side markers, amber rear tail lights and the ultra rare TRD skirt/wing package

Re: My '98 Cavalier Z24...
i think the trd cav is neat and all but its mostly not my style. i hate big gaudy spoilers and above all else amber lights, etc. just not into the "jdm" thing much.
i do have the leather wrapped steering wheel, the trunk lid carpet that covers the underside, and the leather wrapped ebrake handle off a toyota cavalier, though. would love to get the gas door (has a cable pull versus a finger protrusion to get it open), the fenders (minus the side markers) and the collapsable mirrors as well.
there really is quite a bit of differences between the USDM and JDM cavalier's though.

Re: My '98 Cavalier Z24...
Props for the cleanness. The front bumper (specifically, the license plate mount), reminds me alot of a corvette.
Never cared much for these cars but I see you've made yours work for you. When I was younger, my buddy and I would go race down an old private road. He had a z24 and I had a chrysler lebaron v6. He'd get more and more frustrated at losing, and eventually beat me when he stripped out his entire interior and learned how to launch. Fun times.

Re: My '98 Cavalier Z24...
This is just such a clean Cavalier.
I didn't know there was any aftermarket for these other than like autozone parts.
Would you mind laying out a build plan, I'm just interested in seeing what parts you're doing to get it to 350Hp.

Re: My '98 Cavalier Z24...
oh yea man, there isnt nearly the aftermarket support you boys get but over the years some nice stuff has came out. really gotta keep ur eye out for the good parts, though. it's taken me over ten years to put together this one and my 97, gathering parts, hunting down classifieds ad's, craigslist, etc. so much **** has been discontinued LOL
well, as for plans for the power, i have the engine pretty much 90% there.
major highlights for 2.4L twin cam include...
Bottom end:
2000 block bored .020, decked .005 and finish honed with BHJ torque plate
custom main cap stiffening braces and ARP main studs
2.3 quad 4 oil pump swap (gear to gear and ditches balance shafts)
Wiseco .020 forged pistons, thermal coat on crowns, friction reducing coat on skirts, total seal rings (gapless top ring)
Eagle H-beam rods with arp 2000 bolts
stock STD crank gutted by 9 pounds, knife edged, cryotreated and completely polished to shed oil
all rotating assembly balanced to within +/- 1 gram
Clevite 77 rod/main bearings coated by swaintech
Top End:
96-98 3-18 head (slightly higher compression)
-mild port job, smoothed and deshrouded combustion chambers @ 56 cc's
-Thermal coat on combustion chambers, exhaust ports, exterior powdercoated
-sivalves.com stainless steel valves thermal coated
-custom trick titanium ti retainers
-bronze valve guides
-new NOS GM 2.3 H.O. 2.3 quad 4 valve springs - oil shed coated by swaintech
-decked .020 with cometic .050 MLS gasket and ARP head studs
-H.O. 2.3 "LG0" (.410 lift / .212* @ .050 duration) cams modded to work in 2.4
-New "lightweight" 35mm hydraulic lifters
-completely custom adjustable cam gear setup, billet timing chain housing cover
all bolt ons, custom header and venom intake manifold, yada yada, etc etc.
im hoping for peaks around 200whp/190wtq n/a (yes even with the auto) and 350/300 with a simple remote mount setup.
i know remote mounts are viewed apon badly but i dont care, i dont need 500+whp i just want a simple setup that not so many have. there is tons of room under the back of the car and i know i could do it all in the engine bay but id rather do this.
i basically just need to do all the finish work, pick up the new gaskets, do powdercoating, chroming, painting etc and just put it together.

Re: My '98 Cavalier Z24...
I have a 99 chevy cavalier as my beater... i'm trying to light that POS on fire or drive it off of a cliff! But to be honest with you, your Cavalier is the nicest looking one I've ever seen! (neve thought I'd say a cavalier looking "nice") lol

Re: My '98 Cavalier Z24...
yes, really? lol whats the problem with spray?
cheap, easy to use and gets you in the door. best bang for your buck. the custom remote mount turbo system id like to invest in for this car is probably going to cost at least $4000.
not to mention nitrous cools the intake down.. and with mine being thin walled aluminum it gets hot very fast.

Clean car man.
As far as "well for as much money as you've spent on that" I bet half the people here could have bought a used f-body or an s13 or s14 for as much money as they've put in their hondas. Its not my cup of tea but I can appreciate some damn good work.

Re: My '98 Cavalier Z24...
I know a local guy with one that makes 548whp/493wtq
he's selling and building an SRT8 Jeep now
not sure about reliability. or the interior. or exterior. but any car can be tuned nicely.
