VCM and Engine Mount Failures
My mom's boss has a 2006 Odyssey EX-L with VCM. He is at the 80k mark and experienced a severe vibration. He feared that the transmission was failing. It turns out that one of the actively damped engine mounts failed. it cost $700 to replace it.
Part Reference
This was my exact fear when we purchased our 2005 Odyssey EX. We avoided the VCM, as I was suspect of engine mounts that cost ~$550 each from the dealer. The fuel savings will not offset a single failure.
The 2011s all have VCM. Is this a common problem?

Re: VCM and Engine Mount Failures
From my time on the Ody forum, it's not that common on the 05-10 Odys to single it out specific, like the older Honda automatic trans.
But it seems to be metioned here and there as something "acceptable" when it gets old.
It should be covered under the powertrain warranty 60K, but that does not apply here.

Re: VCM and Engine Mount Failures
I've seen one failure and it was on a van that had been wrecked so I would consider the failure rate pretty low.
Just my $.02 as a service adviser.
