China vs Philips D2S bulbs (pics)
Thought this would act like a real eye opener for you guys. China replica vs OE, the quality difference is startling.
Swapped out the jank HID bulbs today for some genuine Philips Philips 85122+ D2S bulbs...
The difference in quality between China bulbs (aka everything thats plug and play) and real Philips ones is scary
China on the left, Philips on the right
notice the metal base, guarantees proper alignment and grounding, and long life. Also notice the clarity of the glass and the finish on top.
Notice not only the finish and care on the philips, but the actual glass clarity
China bulb is milky by comparison
China
Philips
here are some more
China
Notice the wires on the inside of the chamber, are not even straight or aligned... and the metal work is so shitty!
Philips
Note the yellow you see is from the actual metal salts, this is what makes an HID work.
The grounding wire on the china bulb, isn't even properly soldered to the bace ring, its a cold joint!
PHILIPS LEFT CHINA ON RIGHT
again the fit/finish of a real Philips bulb
DOT approved! 4100K

There are Chinese bulbs that are very similar to the 85122+. Aside from a few small differences, it's difficult to tell one from the other.

Yeah the morimoto ones are definitely a step up.
I purchased these Philips bulbs from TRS along with some ballast's and bulbs for another car of mine.
I'll do a side by side on their's vs normal china ones too.
I know the Morimoto D2S's are realy close to OE, which is great, and their PnP ones (while not as nice as their D2S ones) are definitely stronger, and a step up from every other kit I've seen.
