Re: K20 top & k24 bottom
Well, sorry & forgive me.....I researched but still have a second thought.
What about if your car just weigh in 1,300 lbs -- would I really need torque
but lost the high rpm mode using the K24 bottom?

Re: K20 top & k24 bottom
Most people build there motor from the ground up when they do a head swap. So really a set of nice balanced rods and pistons will do wonders, then stronger valve springs and retainers with help with higher rpms. Torque is a great thing the more the better. Torque and RPM's is what creates horsepower. If I were to run a k24 with a swapped head then I would personally build the engine internally. either way I would get a set of cams to make power in higher rpm's. Go on youtube and type in "330hp del sol kswap" its naturally aspirated, k24 with k20 head and its turning alotta RPM's.
Didn't mean to come off that way above but many people just dont want to research.

I researched. But when you have a car that weigh in just 1300 lbs, its a lot of decision to make. Getting torque at the low rpm vs getting a torque at the power band, two different things. The intention is to use the car in road racing not drag racing...therefore retaining the K20z3 engine is much better decision (hi-rpm) than dissecting & putting a k24 bottom............"I think"

I will say this my EJ6 hatchback has a k20a2 in it with a stock ecu. It weighs roughly 2300lbs with full interior and it honestly surprised me how fast it is. And 300whp with a small turbo should be easy to attain.
