Brand new used TSX owner here
Just traded in my 2008 VW R32. Got rid of my e92 m3 for the VW in Feb of this year because it felt like a more practical car and I missed having AWD. Besides I had to trade in for a automatic for life reasons. R32 was plenty fast for my needs and that exhaust noise was intoxicating.
Found a mint R32 with low low 30k miles, one owner and all records with zero bodywork in Feb... Bought a VW thinking reliability rumors were overblown, how can a car be so bad right?
In the last 8k miles I've owned the POS these have gone wrong.
-wheel bearing shot (300dollar)
-driver door lock stopped working (600dollar job)
-strut bearing started popping
-AC compressor exploded taking out the whole system (over 2k bill)
I've lost complete in this VW, cars with this low mileage and age shouldn't be having these type of problems. Went to find the most reliable car I could in the price range.
Found a 2008 TSX with Nav with only 26k miles on it, looked showroom inside and out for 18200, instead of putting in the money to fix the VW used the 3k difference to trade up to the Acura.
VW was a much more fun car with right sounds and feel, TSX feels woefully under powered and mileage isn't much better than the VR6 as I have to put my foot in to it all the time and I'll miss AWD in bad weather however feel I made the right choice. Planning to keep the honda for least 10 years.
