Aw sweet. I read your entire build when you first posted it. That ride is sick man. I have a soft spot for EK's and this car really tests it. Nice work. I'm gonna tackle wiring this weekend and depending on how it goes I might have some questions.

Default Re: My J32A3 Integra

Well I spent Saturday putting some parts in the bay. I ran the wiring harness into the cabin along side of my tock harness. I also finished removing the socket from my OBD2 Integra ECU to make my jumper harness.

I had bought the following items from another member:

CL-S 6 Spd ECU
CL-S Wiring Harness (supposed to be manual), sub, main and 3rd ECU plug
CL-S TB w/ MAP and IACV
CL-S Fuel rails w/ injectors and regulator/hoses

The only item from this list that fits my engine is the wiring and even that is questionable. The plugs for the CKP sensors (one behind front cam and one down by crank pulley) are not there. The knock sensor plug is different so I switched it with the TL harness. The IAB plug is different as well and has 6 wires instead of 5 like the TL. There are also some other mysterious plugs that I can't identify.

So at this point, my IM will need to be replaced with a CL-S one and hopefully it will bolt up. I will look into this first. I am waiting to hear back from some boys on j32a.com about my harness, as it may be an automatic one.

Onto the pics!

I covered the open intake ports with tape not long after these photos. I know, this area is a debris magnet!

I'll turn this mangled looking piece of electronics into a sweet jumper harness!

I need some wiring schematics for the CL-S to do this area if anyone can point me in the right direction...

Notice the missing fan switch/temp sensor, there should be one on the side of this. I'm not sure if the two wire temp sensor on top can be used with the CL-S ECU.

Mystery plug on the back of the engine. Purge solenoid? Something emissions?

Missing CKP plug? Modified knock sensor plug.

This is the top of the oil sending unit. There should be plugs here for VTEC pressure switch, VTEC solenoid, oil pressure switch, and I think CKP is the 6 wire.

The TL harness for the ABOVE.

The CL-S harness

So does anyone have any insight for me in regards to the wiring harness? I think it's an AUTO. Who concurs? Someone tell me I can still use this. I know I might have to add a lot of wiring but I just need to know I can use it.

Good news!

A dude on j32a.com informed me this is in fact a MANUAL harness. The absence of CKP plugs was throwing me off and made me think it was an AUTO. (Manual engines have a crank position sensor behind the front cam, automatics do not have this sensor)

So it turns out I will need to make a sub harness for my CKP sensors, along with a few other things. I just need to find some descent wiring diagrams and everything will be dandy.

hey quick question i was thinking of doing this to but just wanted to do some research and get all the info i can before i go ahead and make a purchase of the motor, i have a friend that is a mechanic and can help me out, with the swap. My question would be does the hood close for you or would you have to hack at it and have it open?

There is no way I will get this hood closed. Even with mounts that position the engine farther back, it's impossible.

There are many ways to work around this and if you search, you'll find some appealing ideas. I know I have. I'm gonna rock a hood with a hole cut in it, shaped to the engine. Then apply trim along the edge to clean it up. Something like this:

At the end of the day, who cares what the hood looks like? You'll have 250 lb/ft of torque in a front wheel drive Honda!!

UPDATE!!

I need to buy a CL-S Intake Manifold. I don't know how I didn't see this before...

The IM that came on the J32A3 is for TBW ONLY.
The CL-S is cable throttle which means it's also old school IACV. With TBW, the IACV is built in. There is no space on this IM for the IACV air to enter the manifold...

I bought a CL-S intake manifold from a user on j32a.com and it ships out on Wednesday. Once that comes in I'll bolt it up, finish the wiring, install the Civic radiator and this baby will be ready to start! I still need to work out my intermediate shaft issue, install the axles and buy the exhaust manifolds/j-pipe. It'll sit for the rest of the winter after it's running and I'll be doing the body work. I'm undecided on the exhaust still. 2.5" or 3"? I'm leaning toward the bigger.

On another note... I experienced a small problem with my beater Civic today. One of the rear glass window shocks came off while it was parked and shattered the hatch glass. I drove to the nearest wrecker, about 4 KM away and picked up a new rear window. Cost $90 with tax and I installed it in their parking lot. Another day in the Honda life.

I have seen gains on 3 inch exhausts compared to 2.5 on everything from mild bseries builds, stock h22s and K swaps . .

I would most definitely do a 3 inch exhaust on thise beast to say the least . . .

I am very intrigued by this swap !

Bought some more goodies... Everything should arrive sometime next week and I'll be able to do some more tinkering on the weekend.

At this point I'm having trouble finding any descent and detailed wiring pin outs/diagrams so I might have to suck it up and buy the Helms manuals.

Found some used Pre Cat Deletes on acurazine.com and bought them from a member.

Also, a CL-S intake manifold from a member on j32a.com

Depends on how the axles are. I'm always trying to monitor people with HASport axles to see if they break one. HASport said if you drive like an idiot, they will fail. Drag racing may not be done by idiots, but it simulates the same conditions they would fail under.

Well I say this with all honesty..

I RESPECT THAT BUILD..

Honestly i've yet to find something around my way that can CLEARLY Eat any of my Civics or Teggy, let alone My Supra.

No Money involved, just for sport..It can be a DRAG or Circuit, i'd really like to take a crack at this beautiful car you've put together, never mind my confidence as towhether I can beat it..I just wanna be able to say I ran against it..win or lose. Don't care about location, any of my babies can make the drive.

*hat off* Respect man, **** is beautiful.

Thanks a lot man. Means a lot. This project isn't nearly as far along as I would have liked. I wanted it to be running by this stage.

Mind you that stage is not far away. I just need to pick up a Civic radiator and relocate the supports. Then a few fluids and completion of the wiring to fire this baby. After that I'm doing the paint and changing some interior bits. I hope to have it 100% ready by the spring.

Then we can decide the best location for a meet up.

What J motor are you after?

My IM came in. A perfect fit on the intake runners, but as I suspected, the EGR port is a slightly different shape than the port on the engine. Easy fix, or I'll just live with it. I just ran outside and did a test fit in the dark, didn't get a good look. We'll see in the daylight.

Still waiting on my pre-cat deletes to arrive. Should have been here today.

I can't wait to finish the wiring and get this puppy started!!
