H22 EG Axle Binding
Ok, I HAVE searched for this.
The car is a '92 Civic Sedan swapped to a H22 w/ LSD transmission.
Currently I'm running Gator green series 500hp axles, long story short I ended up having some issues with the driver's side axle leading up to it needing to be replaced. I bought another Gator axle, this new axle being the Gray series rated at 350hp.
I haven't lowered the car another more from the new axle to the old one and yet some how when driving down the road in a straight line when I hit even slight dips in the road it causes the axle to make a binding vibration. The same vibration also happens when cornering to the right at most any speeds. The car is dropped about....3" at my guess.
The thing I don't understand is, same suspension geometry as before, same company making the axle, nothing has changed just the axle and yet some how I'm getting the binding issue.
I e-mailed the owner of Gator and contacted him via phone, and he said the axle is perfect for the swap. The thing is though I noticed one issue during fitment...
The old outer joint appears slightly taller at the base than the new one.
Causing this gap between the hub and the base of the axle...
The axle nut is torqued to spec and I know the axle is as far into the hub as it can possibly go.
This is how the axle looks, installed with the supension loaded...
Also, I'm running Holeshot mounts.
Any other H22 EG owners with some experience? Anything I can do to get this figured out would be great. I really prefer not to raise the car back up, call me a ricer is you want but it's just a cosmetic preference.

Re: H22 EG Axle Binding
have you got a pic of the clearance between your axle and the suspension fork when fully loaded?
axle looks marked around that area. i've had this problem when i lowered the car too much, funny thing is though that it only happened on one side also :/

Re: H22 EG Axle Binding
I have this same issue with my H22 EG swap. Im using cheapo ebay mounts and hasport axles. The boot on the passenger side (bear in mind im UK so its left side if you were sitting in the car). The car pulls in all sorts of crazy directions so Im going to get the alignment sorted out and then undo the clip and straighten the boot out a little. Ive got stock suspension up front but it still looks like yours.

to the OP h22 swaps and axles are a tricky combination. what you need to do is measure the axles in the car to see if they are within spec. the way to do this is with the car sitting on the ground take the axle nut off. you should be able to push the axle in flush with the hub. 1/4" in or out is still within spec. if it is more than 1/4" from flush then that is where you run into problems. also super lowering of the car creates an extreme axle angle that no axle can handle no matter what the HP rating

h22 lsd has differant axles han non lsd. make sure you have the correct ones. i just ordered my hasport mount kit and hasport axles. the guys at hasport assuered me that their axles are made to be compatable with both lsd and non.

I have hasport egh2 mounts and eghzax axles for my F22 integra swap and the passenger side axle rubs against the fork idk why though. My car is only lowered 1.5 inches

Re: H22 EG Axle Binding
Just looking at the pic, your car is WAY too low for an H series swap. This is most likely the main problem. Lift it up a bit and go from there...
