guys with a B16a CRX, I have a few questions...
hey,
I have acuple of questions for you fellow crx owners with a B16. I will soon be getting my motor installed in the next fallowing weeks.
How long have you had it? Besides the minor fix ups like oil change, Spark plugs, ect...have you have any major repairs on it?
How is the ride with the wieght differnce of the stock motor and the b16a.
Curently i have Eibach sport lines and tokico blues. Will i even notice a differnce?
Thanks a bunch

I had 0 problems with my crx that I had for about a year (until the Accord got in my way )
I raced the thing over 100 times, delivered pizza in it, and otherwise redlined the engine so often that it shocked most of my friends and made them (and myself) rethink their whole ideas about current engine technology. It also handled well, but you might want to ask that someone else.
Either way, I pushed the engine to what the factory claimed it could do as often as possible, sometimes more so. It took it and it asked for more, and it didn't burn a drop of oil. I probably put 25000 or som HARD miles on it, and to think that it was a 10 year old engine out of some Japanese junkyard made it all the more unbelievable.
My advice to you: do not shift below 7500 rpms. You'd regret it if you ever lost the car. I lost the car and I had a smile on my face, because I got the most I could out of it.

you'll be having fun with it, trust me. i've had mine for about a year now, and its been really reliable. just be smart and replace things on it before it goes in the car, such as
water pump
timing belt
dist cap&rotor
plug wires
spark plugs
its a really nice motor that was built to take a beating. i redline mine daily and it hasnt failed me yet. i didnt notice much difference in weight, if any. the power you will gain is worth it. just make sure you do a quality job on the swap and it will give you no troubles. most important of all, have fun.

if the swap is done correctly, then you should have no problems, its a stock honda motor, but make sure that the throttle cable isnt ghetto and I'd suggest either the jim fab or Z10 front crossmember rather than cutting up the stock one.
And just some tios.
watch out when your working near the back of the throttle bosy, breaking a TPS sensor is hard to replace cause the voltage is hard to get acurate.
before you put the engine in, I always suggest to clean the motor, change the timing belt and water pump.
make sure whoever is doing the swap knows that if youre using a good mount kit, that the alternator pulley will fit in the engine bay without having to cut anything.
when using a junkyard motor that you dont know the history of, its always good to replace the top end gaskets (valve cover, cam plug, spark plug seals, and exhaust manifold gasket) but thats not completely neccacary.
dont know what else

Only 2 things i can think to tell you that havent been mentioned: Vibration...some mount inserts will cause your car to vibrate like a ****, so look into it. Also, rear mount....make sure to tighten that bitch down and use all the other mount locations. I have seen some beat up b16 crx rear mount spots (in one case the member was torn in half) Just things to look out for.
