Any good resources on H22A into 92-95 Hatch?
I've got a friend selling a 92 civic with some body damage, considering picking it up for another project. Has anyone here done an H22 swap or have good resources on how to do it? The motors are so reasonable, and for a second car who gives a **** if it understeers a bit...
Thanks,
Rich

If you have never done an H22A swap before, i dont recommend it. Even with the kits, its not a direct bolt in procedure. You need to do some cutting as well. And SCC left out a few little details on the install. The magazine kinda left the swap install vaige.

Yeah, it's not a recommended sway for the novince person.... slightly similar to putting in a B-series into an EF but a lil more modification needed on some things. The SCC article really doesn't go into too much of the swap, but it does offer a good parts list of what is needed for the swap.
As for "no cutting" involved.... there's cutting involved on either kit (for the passenger side mount and the linkage/shifter part). For the passenger side mount, using the HCP mount you just trim some of the passenger side mount and still use it (so it's still there IF You ever wanted to swap back to a SOHC pos). But with the HASport kit, you need to hack that passenger side mount completely off the car... then you cannot ever go back to SOHC unless you weld in a new frame mount.
The other thing that most people have the most problems are with the axles. Sure you do what HASport says, and that is to get a 90-93 Accord mid-shaft and use 94+ Integra axles...... but where are you going to find a 90-93 Accord 5-spd mid-shaft? I've looked and it's not as easy as it sounds.... there weren't too many 90-93 5-spd Accords around. But after being at my friend's this weekend at HCP, I found out that you can still use the Prelude mid-shaft on your swap, using different axles.... and it works perfect and proves to be a winning combonation (I have it all layed out on my webpage).... proven at the track since it hasn't broken yet on many cars that run hard on this setup.
Just some things to consider. Most people automatically want H22 (especially on the internet discussion boards) because it's now the new thing and there are "bolt-in" kits for it..... but really have no idea what's involved with the swap. If you want something big and fast, get anything B-series 1.8L or bigger and work with that..... easier and much more abundant parts to choose from.
My $.02 now I'll go have a drink

Yeah, I searched the website under your profile and found no info on h22 into the hatch info. I am wanting to start a new project after winter and I am having trouble deciding.

I'll post it up... it's along the same pages that I have the HCP EK-22 and EG-22 kits on... I'm actually redoing them right now.
