Re: Where to put Gauges
i guess it depends on how many gauges he has.
1. they make a-pillar gauge pods for the s200o i believe
2. cut into the dashboard and mount there (possibly where the cruise and rear defroster buttons are)
3. ricks2k gauge pod, except that its a ripoff

Re: Where to put Gauges
just curious, but, what gages is he/she going to install?
When I installed my Comptech kit I purchased a 2-pod a-pillar and put a boost and oil pressure gage in it. The boost is pretty much a waste and will be replaced by a wideband O2.

Re: Where to put Gauges
damn thats gonna be tight to fit in there. maybe if he got a digital tach (like a stack cluster) which you can program with any gauge as long as you have the sensors for them

Don't need w/ a supercharger
Don't need
A must IMO
Don't need, already have one
Don't need if you get a WB
Also a must IMO, but if you can't afford it then get the EGT.
So really, you only need two gauges. You could have one serial gauge that displays everything, and all the sensors hooked up to an AEM EMS.

Re: Where to put Gauges
yea that setup looks terrible imo... i still think the best (even though its expensive as ****) would be to get the stack cluster, since it can put all the gauges into one screen

Re: Where to put Gauges
/thread.
Any top tuner will tell you these are the most important.
-Oil temp would be useful for a tracked car, a DD car not so much.
-Oil pressure is VERY important. What if a return leaks while you are tracking, or just DD, by the time the dummy light comes on, it's to late, goodbye motor.
-Water temp, again only useful for track days.
-Exhaust temp - meh...unless you want to monitor all 4 cylinders, otherwise it's not of much use.
-Wideband, as the regular narrowband a/f are only good for light shows.
I purchased a single gauge, the AEM serial piece that monitors everything, also allows me to set max/mins to monitor and will notify me if something is outside my predefined range, such as knock/oil pressure/etc. I'll leave it on wideband prolly. Ordered a single gauge pod from SOS for it. Should work out well me thinks.

Re: Where to put Gauges
when i get a headunit im probably gonna be mounting it where the stock radio controls are on the left side, block off the heater vent too and mount 2 gauges there. (will decide whats more important when the time comes) more likely than not the boost gauge will still be in my lap.
i was thinking of playing with the rearview mirror and mounting a gauge where the windscreen would be (behind the driver) but then the display would be backwards, perhaps with a custom convex(?) or concave lens that'll make images come out backwards some how.. lol
OR since we are allowed by law to run a GPS, use a 7" digital display monitor hooked up to a "carputer" in the trunk that will display it all. and if that's too technological to be accurate, mount the gauges in the trunk with it on a livefeed camera while the display tunes into the camera's view.

Re: Where to put Gauges
Just take the audio mode push button out and put the serial gauge in there, I've seen it done a couple times and it looks nice if you do it right.
