For the engine, I would recommend oil. People will tell you that you should get your boutique oil from NASA's research lab. I get it from walmart on sale. My car runs just as good.
I use Honda MTF in the trans. Works great. It's $7 per bottle from the dealer.
I use AMSOIL in the diff. IDK...seems fine. It's oil. It's all the same ****.

I used Redline MT90 GL4 in the trans last time, Mobil 1 GL5 gear oil in the diff. No issues, MT90 shifts like buttah.
Engine has always been Castrol Syntec 10w30, 40 weight in the hotter months w/ turbo.
Have read a lot of posts about Mobil 1 motor oil burning in S2k's so I would not recommend that

I second the LE for the diff and Honda MTF for the trans, I personally use Amsoil in the motor.

Re: whats up guys got 06 s2000 today
From what I've seen Honda MTF is highly recommended for the tranny.
I'm having my tranny fluid, rear diff. fluid, brake fluid and air cleaner done today. I asked the shop to use Honda fluids for everything. I like to think Honda fluids are designed for their cars (wishful thinking?) and since they're not overly expensive... I see no reason to use anything else.

Re: whats up guys got 06 s2000 today
they have a fluid which they put in the transfer cases and diffs of pilots, cr-v's, and ridgelines and its a 75-90w...last time i spoke to honda that's the same fluid they call for in the diff's of s2k's as well...now that's not what i do, because i think you can always improve on O.E., but that's what the manufacturer calls for

If you put VTM-4 in an S2000 Differential and drove it, you are going to blow it up. It is entirely too thin and has additives not needed by the S2000 diff.
For me:
Engine - Valvoline Synpower 10w-30 (With Blackstone Labs tests to back it up)
Transmission - GM Synchromesh (112k and Shifts like it was made yesterday)
Differential - Amsoil 75w90 Severe gear Synthetic (Changed every 10k, no whines no noise, no issues at 112k)
-Froth

im not going to argue with you, but unless they just recently stopped, honda had a 75-90, i've seen it before...when i worked for kia, we had our own diff fluid we used, so i would think honda, being much more sucessful would have their own as well

Re: whats up guys got 06 s2000 today
they may source it, obviously they have to to service vehicles, but i was under the impression that honda didn't sell a gear oil that was ok for use in the S's diff. as noted above, the stuff for the crv has additives in it that is bad for the lsd.
i personally use the LE607, but that was before hardtopguy stopped selling it
