^^^^^^
This. You can use your front soft top latches for awhile, which will save you a little. Eventually they get loose and rattle and you will need the hardtop latches.

Why not get a Mugen? Looks and fits better. Evasive Motorsports had a few in stock the last time I dropped by their shop. evasivemotorsports.com

I see a different used one almost every month on ebay so periodically check there. They usually are suzuka blue ones or yellow. If you do find one make sure you look into the locks like someone stated in here already because someone WILL try to steal it,i lost mine to theft, they took it in the rain. the oem one is great but since it is oem it also comes off the easiest in 2 seconds. My spoon one takes like 25 minutes to get off.

Be careful as some tops on Ebay are stolen so, beware while searching. Look for areas where the VIN may have been added by the owner (like myself) and removed by the "seller" a.k.a. thief. Good luck.

Why does the VIN even need to be there????
I buy hardtops from other s2000 owners and of course the VIN would not match my car, this doesn't mean they are stolen, WTH....

The same LOGIC and legal parameters for stolen seats has been done by many hardtop owners.
Adding the VIN to their hardtops and documenting with photographs can allow Police to question any Craig's list, E-bay or auto forum post.
Sellers who provide verifiable proof of purchase of seat, hardtops etc. have nothing to worry about.

My point is I can buy one from any private party sale and pay cash. eBay and craigslist has numerous ones for sale plus local guys. Obviously no receipt in a private deal but AGAIN not stolen.
For example I have a mint spa yellow hardtop right now for sale
