Used S2000 or a new Civic SI?
So I'm up in the air about which car to buy: A used 2004 S2000 or a new Civic SI. The s2k would cost about $23k and the SI would be about $22k.
How do you think the cars stack up against each other in terms of performance, fun, reliability, and daily driving? Which would you rather have as your regular car for the next 10 years?
Thanks!

Get s2k if you like the rwd honda type **** man, cant beat it. AndI think its krazy more fun to drive the s2k rather then civic Si.
So the s2k for fun driving
Civic Si for daily commutting.
It really comes done to what YOU want.

so true...
to be honest you can't compare the two cars at all...
one is a rwd, 2 seat sports car...
the other is a mini fwd honda oddessy to get mom to the super market and kids to the soccer games...

Does the s2k drive THAT much better than the Si? I'm having a tough time doing a real comparison in Boston because it's winter (planning move to CA and drive the car across the country in summer). I plan to buy in about a month.
I'm definitely leaning towards an s2k, but the practical side of me says that I can get almost all the fun of the s2k, along with practicality, if I get the civic. Am I totally wrong on this point?
Plus, it's nice to get a new car
Keep those comments coming. Thanks!

Exactly..NO comparison. If you want a 'regular' car, buy the civic..If you want a kick *** sports car out of the box, get the S..You'll get reliability from both. You'll get looks and a lot more fun in the S.
The S2000 is a drivers car that can be tracked without mods and daily driven..

Ok, I'm sold. Thanks everyone. I've always wanted an s2k..been resisting for 5 years.
Now I just gotta find a nice 2004 near boston that I can afford.

Re: (ambition)
hahahaha..I want to buy an ap2, but it mainly depends on what I find in my area. I'm hoping to score a 2004 for $22.5k or a 2001 for $16.5k.
Part of my weariness came from buying a used car that most people would probably punish. But I guess if I run the carfax, verify maintance records, and have a dealer check it out, I should be fine.

Alright i just saw this and had to post. I have a 02 s2k. I drive it every single day, shine, snow, rain, whatever. It is not a practical car, and i honestly thought about trading in the s2k for the new si. Then i really thought about it, and i cant do it. The s2k is such a great car, and i would never think about getting rid of it. (Atleast until i can afford the g35) And it gets mad chicks too, something the civic couldnt do.

I took an owner of a 00 NFR out for a spin today. I think he was impressed with what the car can do, even on weak *** 205/225 Goodyears. Don't worry, I informed him about correct tire choices.

I DD in socal. I admit it sure is a bitch especially when you pick people up at the airport. The funniest thing i ever did was make my girl friend carry her 48x36 luggage in the passenger seat. I had the top down to get the damn thing to fit. On the freeway the god dang thing was like a airbrake. It was funny though cus if i downshifted the luggage would smack her in the face. It was hilarious. The lesson she learned was not to over pack when i have to pick her up at the airport.
