Well, I ran 14.0 with a 2.2 60' on a 90 degree day. I didn't wanna launch. I'm sure the car could have gone 13.6-13.7.

I've raced mustang GTs. One was an 03 and had an exhaust and probably an intake because it sounded loud as I passed him.

Again...you switch between straight line speed and handling over and over again.

A well modded civic will tear up a stock S2000 in a drag race..big deal...nobody cares. If you threw a B18C5 into a hatchbox, it would be faster than a stock S2000.

I have beat caged civics on slicks at Gingerman while my car was on street tires.

You can compare the two cars...but the civic would have to be significantly modded to beat the S2000 at any contest of speed.

If you're saying that a contest between the two cars isn't fair even if the civic is modded since the S2000 comes well calibrated from the factory...then I guess we just decided which one is the better performance car. We also just decided which one has the best overall potential.

I never switched back and forth between straight line and twisties... I was merely replying to the other guys post about the C-West S2000. Saying it was "tuned" quite a bit more than the civic was.

You go back and forth saying the S2000 is better. You say that if you throw a Hype-R engine in a hatch its faster...yet you say you have beaten caged civic's at the track.

So basically, you are saying that at the strip a civic would win (but no one cares) and on a track (twisties) an S2000 would win (and everyone would care)?

How much is significantly modded? I have seen videos of Stock Mugen and Type-R civics beating S2000's on tracks. This is why I am curious.

"Stock Mugen Type R civics"?!!

My all natural muscles that were created using shark testosterone are huge! LOOK!!

BrandX has the most satisfying light beer.

Can you figure out the parallels between the three phrases? Hint: They're all oxymorons.

The Mugen RR is a heavily modded civic type R. They were racing a stock S2000. Excellent match up.

But its still stock from the factory... Its something you can buy...you don't have to build.

You wanted to compare a stock S2000 vs. a Stock Civic. That's fair?

Heavily modified = tuned suspension, lightened slightly and tuned K engine?

Doesn't the S2000 already have 2 of the 3?

Plus its not just the Mugen RR. I have seen video of normal B18C's catch S2000's on the track (twisties).

Please don't think I am trying to start a war or anything being a civic owner. I honestly don't care if the S2000 is better...in fact, I really like the S2000, hince why I started this thread...I wanted to get the bottom line of everything. And don't read anything I post with a hostile tone...I am not in any way trying to be hostile with anyone. <3

Where exactly am I being subjective vs objective in my questioning?

I am asking questions based on what I have seen, not assumptions or rumors.

Dude. If you put 5K into an s2000 and 5k into a civic the s2000 would eat the civic alive. It's built from the factory to be a sports car so right off the bat you have an advantage. Yeah it costs more but it looks way better. Building civics is cool when you're in high school but when you get older you realize class is important lol I'd say the same goes for that prelude.

I don't think that stock vs. stock is fair. That's the point. The S2000 has a huge advantage.

You didn't seem to think that tuned vs. tuned was fair because the S2000 apparently still had the advantage. You don't think that there were any civic race cars out there with tons of money into them?

A Mugen RR beat a stock S2000. That doesn't tell you something? Here's some Mugen RR cliff's notes:

260hp, Big *** brakes, race suspension, carbon body peices, much larger than factory tires (not sure if they're R compounds or not), etc. etc. etc.

vs. a STOCK S2000.

The 06+ civic is also a long way away from civics of the past. Compare a stock 06 Si to an EM1 for example.

What does that say? You have to mod the F#$K out of a civic to even catch up to a bone stock S2000 in any contest of speed. Pick a contest.

All these people claiming that S2000s are weak *** because their K swapped hatches can beat them need to get a grip.

A stock D15B7 is what? 105hp? A K20R is 220hp? That's 2.09 times the original HP.

What happens when you put 502hp into a S2000 in that case?

We get people screaming about how "it's not fair". Why? Because the S2000 is a stronger performer to start...that's why.

Come on, people. Why are we even comparing a car that looks like this. ..

to one that looks like this. . .

It's like comparing Anna Kornikova to Chris Farley. I mean, really? Straight line is a moot point. You don't have Formula 1 heritage bred into a Honda Civic. You don't have a rag-top you can drop on nice days. You don't have a car that handles like a go-cart straight off the showroom floor. You don't have a 9,000 RPM redline.

And you don't have girls wanting to drop their skirts over a Honda Civic. Period.

Its about insults and looking better.

Its a "highschool thing" to want to tune an "econobox" as you so kindly put it.

Its comparing cars that are no way the same, unless they are the same.

So basically it all boils down to how cool I want everyone else to think I am and how cool I want to look... not really if the S2000 is ultimately the more capable car.

I have tried to compare cars that were similar in specs. but apparently a civic with a motor swap, a suspension and a few bolt on's "is not a fair comparison".

Anyhow, thanks for everyones input, I have been enlightened.

S2000s are better. Go drive one. It's not about "being cool". The driving experience of an S2000 is about 200 billion times better than driving a swapped civic.

I've owned swapped and modded civics. I own a modded EM1 right now.

I test drove an AP2 while waiting on my gf's tacoma getting a oil change today. It was fun to drive, just the power was lacking and my gf said she felt claustrophobic.

lacking power? haha. its a 2.2L that runs low 14s in the 1/4 stock...don't let the lack of torque fool you :p. but yeah they are small.

Low 14s? High 13s around here easy. I ran a 14.0 with a 2.2 60' (but I have an AP1). I didn't want to launch.

The lack of power thing is...a weird thing to say. I think he just means it's lacking the amount of torque that he's used to with a truck.

My GF is small. She's like 5'4, and skinny. So she fits in the passenger seat just fine. I'm 5'11 and 175..so I'm like the perfect size for any car lol.

Yeah, I thought the size wasn't bad at all. The lack of torque was felt. But it still felt like something was holding it back from what I expected. I love the shifting, and everything else about it.

I've had a 05 GTO, 98 ITR w/ JDM K20A swap, and a Evo IX, so maybe thats why is feels slow? I don't know. The tacoma is only my gf's.

i can tell you now its the gearing. Stock is 4.1 but a lot of s2k owners recommend buying the 4.57 to help with the acceleration.

u can compare stock block boosting where a K20 can squeeze 300 out safely? and S2k drivers like myself DD 400+? fun. can't believe we have a 2page thread comparing a mother ****ing civic to a S2k.

if you're really thinking the civic is something special like a OMGENDLESSPOTENTIAL DRAG CAR, then by all means get a civic. or you can look at lets say the InlinePRO S2k running low 9's (since the last ive heard, which was on stock suspension and whatnot IIRC) or even look at the "OMGSWAPPED" 2JZ s2k's. dump 30-40k into your civic and I still guarantee you can't **** with a 1200WHP 2JZ s2k.

so I guess the "potential" of a civic got assraped.

Do it.

I worked at a Honda dealership for 3 years and I've driven a lot of cars, new, used, Honda, and everything else.

You can compare and contrast and upgrade the civic in power and handling until you're blue in the face.

But all of that money and all of that customization and all of that work doesn't mean **** compared to how an S-2000 FEELS to drive. That car is driving ecstasy. It's so composed, and so capable, and yet so raw and primal when you push it.

Every time I drive one, I get out and look at it and all I can think of to say is, "..what a car..."

This is what car and driver had to say about it in 03
