So how much of a burden is it using an S2000 as a "daily driver"?

I DD mine and don't seem to have any issues with it. However if you ever need to pick up anything big or transport more than one person, a secondary car is always beneficial. I honestly think the s2000 is great for a daily though, throw the top down when the weather is good or put it up if you're going into a downpour lol

I lasted about 4 months DDing mine. It got to be too cramped, and driving in traffic with my clutch/fly wheel combo wasnt the most exciting thing to do in the s2k. This car was not built for and isn't meant to just sit or crawl in NoVA/DC traffic, so I went to the opposite end of the spectrum and bought a '10 escalade esv. Now I have the best of both worlds, a luxury tank and my little go-cart. I use to hate large cars and suv's but once I got the caddy I realized how nice it is to have something that doesn't make you feel like you're in a sardine can. Being able to drive in more than a light dusting of snow is cool and having a/c and heated seats and 400+ lb/ft of tq isnt bad either....so to sum it up, if you can only afford to have one car or only have the space for one than I'd say owning a s2000 isn't the worst idea but if it can be a weekend toy or track car then its probably more reasonable to have something a little larger.

Interesting read. I kind of want to ditch my GTI and buy an S2000 and a beater Civic or Subie wagon or something. The GTI is a great car/DD but I miss having a Honda and I don't really need space. I think it would be fun to have a real sports car. Thanks for all the info.

ive said it before and ill say it again, i DD mine and i absolutely love it...im 5'7 and 100lbs so that might have something to do with it, but i find myself speeding a lot easier in "smoother, quieter" cars...the S definantly takes your full attention to drive, in fact, i have a no phone policy for my car as well...other than that, it brings me joy every day i get to drive it

I'm 76 and live in So Cal. My commute is only about 10 miles and I do not have any problems (2006 S2000). If I'm going somewhere other than work the only "problem" is putting on the top cover when I park (like to leave the top down except for long trips in the summer. It gets hot).

My only gripe with DD'ing the S2k is heat soak on those hot & humid days. Other than that it's perfectly fine.

I have an 07 LBP and have DD'd mine since last dec. (2011), and I love it!
Everytime I could have a gripe about the compact size of the trunk, I just remind myself, because racecar. I am 6'1" and 170lbs, and its perfect. And people cant bum rides anymore, gf is always riding passenger haha.
I do not see much stop and go in the car, but I did driving from MD to the Outer banks, NC this year and it was a pain on my leg, so I could see why some people who work in a metropolitan area do not like it. The car is not meant to be sitting in stop and go traffic. It is meant for wide open roads, hairpin turns, and no traffic lights for miles ahead.
Just my opinion though!

Grundy Collectors Car insurance $254 A YEAR.... Stipulations are you must be 25+, must keep your S in the garage and you must have a DD. I used ta get raped for insurance, not anymore. Search S2ki under Grundy for details.

so true to that one. i daily drive 50 miles round trip to work. it's about an hour commute almost with 75% of that time in stop and go traffic. it makes me get to work a little edgy sometimes. especially with miami's fine drivers

I don't daily drive mine anymore (open downpipe currently), but I do still drive it in stop-and-go traffic on occasion without issue

As most have already noted here, watch out for rough weather. Otherwise, every drive can be a wild dream. Drive it like you stole it!
