evo doesnt have much yet because its new in the US, but there is a lot of jdm support for it. However, I would have to say that for everday drving the S2k will still be your best choice. And of course this is HONDA-tech, we all are a little bit biased

They are totally different cars. Both have their advantages and disadvantages.

The main ones are that the S2000 is a 2 seater with basically no room at all. The Evo is a 4 door, with plenty of room.

Personally I haven't driven an Evo, but I can tell you that driving a roadster type vehicle is totally different. Much better and more fun, IMO.

If you want speed and more speed, then get the Evo. If that's not your thing and you enjoy the open road and the feeling of actually being part of the car, then get the S2000. Handling in the S2000 is incredible even with stock suspension. I hear the Evo handles great stock as well.

Test drive both and see what you like.

Wouldn't it be better to ask S2000 or BMW Z4, Boxter, etc?

The EVO 8 and S are apples and oranges

They both are great cars in their own respect though...

the evo8 is nice, fast, decent looking and a handles pretty nicely. the s2k is probably one of the best hondas made, with lots of attentiont to detail.

if you have **** to haul around, get the evo8. if you want a beautiful, quick and excelletn handling car, get the s2k. oh yeah, the only space i need is one seat for my gf, and the s2k is perfect for that.

I like them both, and yeah its also something i'm debating as well, also the sti, but what holds me back on getting the evo or sti , is that power drops off after like 6k or so, its mainly a 0-60 car in my opinion, and its heavy, and i don't know if i want to deal with FI again since my teg is FI, so i would choose the s2k, but thats me, to each is own

Personally, both cars are great. You can't go wrong and I've test driven both when I was in the market for a new car.

I like the s2k because it's a roadster. Shifter/gearbox feel is excellent and so is the steering but it was lacking in power for my taste and is just as any other hondas that the motor needs to scream to make power. However, the interior and exterior design is great. You can tell Honda quality is top notch compared to others out there. On the other hand, insurance was another issue why i didn't end up with it.

The Evo is a different monster overall. If you live in an area that sells at least 93oct at the pump, your good! This is my problem in Cali... i'm stuck with 91. The Evo's ecu is very conservative(it runs rich) when it comes to octane rate and reason being is the amount of boost it's pushing to compensate knock. This is good in a way but it's robbing power on the high end which can be safely tuned by an SAFC but won't fix the timing. Switching from a lower to a higher octane rating can simply raise few more ponies.
Handling on the evo? C'mon, it pulls .95G lateral grip stock. Steering feel is very precise. Just a degree of movement on the steering, the car will turn. It responds very quickly and can get you in trouble if don't pay attention. The notchy shifter feel on the gearbox is something to like or dislike. Remember, this is an awd car and the tranny is beefed up for abuse. There's a tradeoff there.

I say test drive both cars if you're still unsure. Your the one that's buying the car, not us. I have in car videos of my Evo when I went out to track it and I'll post the videos if anyone is interested.

Greets!

the S2000 is a roadster, front engine, rear wheeler perfect for "fun driving" (;
the Evo VIII is a rally car... nuff said
both are great cars but its a bad comparisson. It all depends what kind of driver you are, and what you prefere.

Simon Norris in the UK has owned the worlds 2 baddest EVO's ever. His EVO 5 (575hp) netted 188mph and his EVO 7 is even faster with 715hp

I traded my S2000 in for my Evo. The Evolution does haul more people, has awd, gets about the same gas mileage, has cheaper insurance, and is faster in the ¼ mile.... around a road course the Evo is just slighly faster (stock vs stock).

The power does really seem to drop off at 5500-6000rpm on the Evo.... the car runs extremely rich...... I am leaving mine all stock, but I am sure if you lean it out with computer tricks it would run way better!

Lots of "lightly modded" evo's are running mid 12's in the ¼. Steering is quick, precise, etc....

my only complaint is the huge gap from 4th to 5th in gearing..... 4th ends at 110mph or so and 5th at 165 or so..... needs to be something in the middle....

MoTeC!! Best way to get extra Hp out of your EVO regardless of the model (;

The EVO VIII in Europe is 6, we recently tested the US version vs. the Euro version and theres a huge difference... \:

BTW, it doesn't matter what times a EVO gets doing the 1/4 mile because all that Engineering is for Rally driving, so if you own it use it on turns and watch Big American V8's struggling just have you in visual distance.

If you like boost, and want to be able to carry 4 extra people with you, go with the Evo. If you don't mind having a 2 seater and love hearing Vtec pop go with the S2.
If I had to choose one I would go with the s2

evo 8 is bad ***. nothing beats 4 wheels pulling with the assistance of boost.

i think the evo8 runs on 19 PSI i would choose the lancer even though i love honda, i would drop it for any 4wd turbo beast.

I'd say s2k because it's a drop top and a roadster....but I'm kinda biased because I used to have one....but I will have another. Good luck with the decision, Brandon

evo= faster, tq,great handling, fit more people, make faster for less money, more storage space. whats there to decide? unless you want a 2 seater convertible.

Yeah but s2k = more fun to drive.

This really shouldn't be a comparison, either you want a convertible or you don't.

bull.. ive had both (sebring silver s2k) and currently a rally red evo.. the s2k is nice at first.. but we're on here for one reason, and thats cause we love to upgrade our cars.. the s2000 is too hard to get anymore power out of it.. unless you go forced induction, or you want to spend alot of money on extensive engine modifications... where as the evo is nice and roomy, would kick an s2000's *** in any area of competition.. the interior may be a little cheap.. but after driving the evo i traded my s2k in in the same day.. s2000 is a great car.. but if you dont want to hear, "bring your dads car home" and want a wonderful/roomy/greatlookin car... go for the evo.. you wont regret it. like i said.. the s2000 is nice for the first week.. but after that you get used to the attention (not like you dont get nay with the evo), but unless you have a second vehicle the s2000 is pain to have as a daily driver..

I agree with JDMCHRIS
I actually have a Sebring Silver S2000
and i want a RED EVO 8
small world

I would say that the EVO is definitely more appealing, since you can drive it in all year round. It's not a convertible, but so what, get the sunroof. I love my S, but the EVO and STI are superior.

Yeah, and I think the EVO and STI are pretty hideous cars (just my opinion) I like the lines of my S better even if it is a slower car. Plus I wanted a drop top.
