I think of how much sexier it would look with my Mugen kit on; shouul be on in the spring. I've gotten nothing but compliments so far. It's still the best looking 4th gen I've seen in person.

I think "**** it, I'm gonna go cruise.." or when I try to place parts that won't fit cause they are too small I think "You ****ing *****! Why do you have to be so ****ing picky!"

Owning a prelude has it's uniqueness.
The new car enthusiasts I meet that drive other Japanese cars or some other bullshit are left skeptical when I say my car is a Honda and it's a 2.2 and they won't believe it. Guess they never see preludes.
When I wake up and go outside to my car for a morning drive I think "hmmm...goddamn you're nice..." Everywhere I go, People admire the car. I like the fact that parts are hard to find b/c the reward for finding that one part you need is awesome. I rarely see a Prelude in the junkyard and I can see why. These cars have potential....

I heard that the prelude was a prototype vehicle to test out the double-wishbone suspension and the new Vtec engine and all these other new features back in the day, well let me tell you....they succeeded.

I wouldn't trade my Prelude for any other car here, maybe Japan....

I think I miss my 4th gen. I've now been relegated to suburbia-hell and drive an SUV every day. Despite the rust, the high insurance, the rust, the constant attention from the police, and the rust, my '93 Vtec was one of, if not the most fun car I've ever owned.

I actually get excited to drive it. Even though its mostly stock, I love it. I have owned quite a few different Hondas and others, this 4th gen I like most! I will love it even more when I have extra cash to mod it a little. I let my old man drive it the other day and he was squeeling tires like a teenager would!! it was funny to see him so excited. He says to me "So.....how many horsepower is this???" Just my .02

I don't want to put up with a barrage of stupid lights and beeps and voices to drive a mile.

15 years has not improved the fuel economy or the power output of 4 bangers without adding another 400 pounds of weight to compensate. Oh oh, and freaking drive by wire! What a joke. You mash the throttle expecting something to happen and the ECU thinks about it for a second before actually doing anything. So all that fancy technological wizardry ruins throttle response. I just don't see the benefit.

So ultimately the last 15 years of R&D has upgraded the stereo and safety/emissions equipment all while adding no extra power, added no quality, no better fuel economy all for the same price or more. Frankly, I can't see myself spending half my take home annual salary on a claptrap heavy, under-powered rattle trap with a good stereo when I have a perfectly good beater I know inside and out that gets better mileage that's cheap to maintain.

Here's the breakdown on my car versus 2009 coupes:

My current Prelude $4500 220bhp nonVTEC 2650 pounds 12.1#/hp
My current Prelude $6500 270bhp VTEC 2670 pounds 9.8#/hp
Ford mustang GT $28,000 300bhp 3483 pounds 11.6#/hp
Chvy Cavalier SS $24,145 260bhp 2926 pounds 11.2#/hp
Honda Accord coupe $25,000 190bhp 3278 pounds 17.2#/hp
Honda Civic coupe $22,600 197bhp 2895 pounds 14.7#/hp
mazda RX8 $27,185 232bhp 3064 pounds 13.2#/hp
MINI Cooper S $22,600 172bhp 2634 pounds 15.3#/hp
Mitsubitchy 4cyl $21,500 162bhp 3296 pounds 20.3#/hp
Nissan altima coupe 4cyl $22,500 175bhp 3076 pounds 17.5#/hp
VW Golf GTI $23,950 200bhp 3100 pounds 15.5#/hp

If it really came down to it I can pick up a C5 Z06 Corvette off fleaBay for about $25,000 that gets 30mph highway, that looks great, sounds great and has only 7.7 pounds per horsepower.

I think this is the best post I have read in a long time and it is 100% on target. For the price, you cannot beat a 90's Honda. Period.

I think of how I shouldn't have bought it, how I can't wait to sell it (2 more days!) and how I'm gonna spend the money on my civic, which was made faster for WAY cheaper...

But it sure gave me some good times...Man am I ever gonna miss my prelude...
