Default 3rd or 4th gen?

I only have like 2200 right now. I've been saving up for a 4th gen SI for quite some time now, but I'm starting to think its hopeless. I started looking at the 3rd gens, and they dont look too bad with some work. Just wanted to get a few opinions..wait or get a third gen? Do those things have much potential? (And yes, I know any car has potential with nitrous..).
TIA

patence is a virtue. I just went through what you are going through... saving for a long time and getting the car of my dreams. Don't settel for anything less then the best. I was set on a fourth gen, and I got what I wanted, but I was a little unpatent too, so the car that I got wasn't in perfict condition. But all else aside I think that if you do this you will prove to your self that if you set your mind to do something, that you can do it. (not to mention the 4th gen looks, rides, and is plan old quicker then the 3rd,[don't mean to start a war w/ a 3rd gen owner, just my opinion])...YOU CAN DO IT!!!(waterboy)

I would agree with mattmw88. If you're looking for a 4th generation prelude, then save and wait. I waited a year or so before I could get my 3rd generation. I have spent the time and money into her, with the modifications I could beat a 4th generation Si (92-96 USDM), but not the Si VTEC(93-96 USDM). I love my car. Glad I waited and saved to get her. If you really want to put the time and extra money/investments into a 3rd generation maybe my car could sway you!?

JDM B20A (20,000K - 50,000K miles - not sure)
USDM B21A intake manifold, ECU, t/b.
DC Sports ceramic header
Maxspeed 92-95 civic intake
custom cai extension
MSD 6A ignition
MSD Blaster 3 coil
Magnecor KV85 8.5mm race wires
NGK ZFR5F-11 spark plugs
High pressure oil cap
Apexi N1T
custom 2.25 cat-back exhaust
polished valve cover
reset ECU
Mobile 1 synthetic 5x30 motor oil
Mobile 1 synthetic oil filter
Redline MTL
custom short shift
Mugen high performance radiator cap
Nissin master clutch cylinder
Nissin slave clutch cylinder
Autometer a/f gauge

Next:
Unorthodox gam gears
Civic overflow conversion
Cusco open loop PCV system

I could add a LudeSPEED tubro w/ extras @ 13psi (<$3,000) and whoop most imports, but I decided to finish her up and next year sell for and ITR or EK (Well, USDM EK if tha makes any sence; you know what I mean). Good luck, do what your heart is set on!

the fourth gens are probably the best preludes that were made (IMO). i, however have a third gen and i love it. the car handles great, pulls hard, and with the proper mods and suspension work, it can be a really great car. if you have your heart set on a fourth gen, keep saving. you will be happy. but, should you decide on a third gen, just be patient when looking for aftermarket parts. they aren't easy to find and can be a little pricey.

wait it out. I did and Im happy. I wanted a 4th gen for 3 years finally got one and then crashed. It was a sad story but it took me 5 months to find my sec one and its even better (engine wise) needs some body work. Just have patience and wait for the right deal.

Not a bad looking lil Lude...Patience my friend...took me forever to find my vtec lude. It's worth it tho. Anyone and everyone has a civic or an integra. Not everyone has a Prelude tho..

Yeah, that's me. I was going by member name "B21A", but since I had my swap done I changed my usernam here, hence I don't have B21A motor anymore.
