Default valve cover torque spec?

how many ft/lbs do the valve cover bolts need on the h22a?

easy question I know but never found it on a search and can't find a haynes manual at any auto parts stores.

LOl u guys need to chill.. just cause he doesnt have a helms doesnt mean we cant help.. thats why he posted right?

anyways.. i usually just hand tighten those just make sure they are tight and you should know if ur tighenting it down too much.. anyways ill try and find it in the helms and let u know

I think all I did was screw it until you find resistance then add 1/4 turn to it and it should be allright.

If you tighten it too far it will snap....

dont overtorque it. look at how the nuts are designed.

hey thanks for the help guys, ya I know I need a helms, been searching for one, but think I am just going to have to order one off of online, no bookstore, ect. has one. I have them for all my old cars but for some reason no one is caring the one I need.

usally most people dont even bother breaking out a tq wrench for those things. Just tighten till snug, no more or you will strip them and have to pull the valvecover and replace the stands. Look at how many bullshit posts it took for someone to answer this guys question. Its pretty ****** simple, just give him the answer and dont be a post *****. i saw someone say 7 inch lbs but in the helms diagram it does say 7 ft-lbs

the pic above says 7 ft/lbs, so just going to stick with that. Going to use the torque wrench, would hate to break one of them, such a head ache then.

I know the diagrahm says 7 ft lbs but trust me on this one, you don't want to tighten
them that much, they will most likely snap.

as far as helms go, I got one on CD of ebay for like $6 shipped. no flipping pages and i can print stuff off if i want to look at it in the garage.
for helms though, the haynes i have for my car sucks compared to the helms...pictures after just about every step!
