If you look at both pumps, you will notice that the engine from your car has sensors on the oil pump, while the JDM engine does not. That is why you need to swap pumps. You may also need to switch some sensors from the block and head.

A4 oil pump, crank timing gear and crank sensor, injectors, dizzy and harness need to be swapped to the jdm motor. I think that's it.
EDIT: the lower timing cover may be different for Ye crank sensor, I can't remember.

Re: usdm h22a4 to jdm h22
Remove all the peripherals off your h22a4, then strip the h22a down to bare block and reinstall all the peripherals onto the jdm block. Swap over the h22a4 oil pump with sensors, switch out the crank pulley, the balance shaft pulley(these are important as the pick ups for the CKP sensor are on them), use the h22a4 timgin covers and alternator, starter etc. Then use your h22a4 dizzy, intake manifold(full intake mani including injectors and rail and what not.) do not try use the h22a injectors as they will fry out your ecu.
If you do all of this then you should be able to reuse your h22a4 harness and the swap should be plug and play. Other wise you are going to be in for conversion harness, chipped ecu, dizzy conversion wires, and an assortment of other fuckshow around thigns.
I did this swap a number of years ago and i found it was very easy to do. This way i jsut described is also how i swapped my h23vtec, albeit it is built up and tuned with AEM sereis 2, but everything else was bolt on. Go on preludepower and you can read many many cases of h22a swaps.
If you keep your h22a dizzy and oil pump and intake manifold you are going to be up **** creeek with no ecu....er paddle.

I have a 99 lude im taking out the h22a4 it came with and putting in an h22a seeing that ill have to swap oip pump, crank sensor, distributor, injectors, motor harness, crank timing gear, etc is kinda discouraging if i wete notto swap that stuff but rather get a conversion harnesd, chipped ecu, dizzy coversion, what else would i need?

Re: usdm h22a4 to jdm h22
if you wana leave the h22 as is you will need to get a obd2a to obd1 jumper harness or if its a 99 and up obd2b to obd1 and find a p13 ecu (correct me some one if im wrong) or get an p28 have it chipped and tuned , and unless your car is an auto the you will have to change all of it over
