synthetic oil spill on timing belt ..Dangerous?

synthetic oil spill on timing belt ..Dangerous?
I pulled my hood this morining and noticed some oil spilt in my timing belt area. it seems to have come from my dipstick port. I immdiately used a strong detergent in water to clean it up as best as I could, now I dont see any trace of oil left on it . Question... is full synthetic oil as dangerous as petrolium oil on rubber. Should I change the belt??

I would think that oil on rubber is actually better for it. Like Armor All on your vinyl dash.

It is bad to get fluids on your belt; they can soak into it and weaken it.
Check where the oil spilled; does it look like it soaked in any?
It probably will be fine, as long as it wasn't a lot of oil and it didn't sit for a few days.

i would have been more worried about the STRONG solvent that you used then the oil.
do yourself a favor and replace that bad boy. its cheaper then a new head.

i got a little on mine one time but wiped it off as soon as it hit...think it would be a problem...it was on there all of 3 seconds? this was a few months ago and it is fine.

sorry to go off topic,but how is it replacing the h22 timing belt. I did my f22 motor in like 3 hours. I wanna do my h22 swap,but i herd its a pain with that auto tensioner.
