Replaced ignition switch...car starts with rough idle then dies...
The other day the car was running normal parked it went to turn it on the gauges wouldnt turn on and the car wouldnt stay started unless i held the key forward, but then the starter stayed engaged. as soon as i let go of the key it died. ordered a new ignition switch and installed it yesterday. went to start the car the gauges come on and the car would start without having to hold the key forward, but it idled really bad and sounded kinda like it was having a bad missfire then just dies. if i give it gas it just gets worse and dies a few seconds later. turned out the prev owner spliced into the ignition switch wiring and left a live wire loose under there that touched some metal and sparked. other than that the car ran perfect prior to this. any one have any ideas?
Fixed...Solution: Turns out during the process of it not starting prior and after the new ignition switch cylinder 1 spark plug fouled out. New plugs solved the problem.
