recoating cams?? is it possible?
so i have a chance to get my hand on some type S cams really cheap. the problem is, the guy thats selling them told me his timing was off a couple teeth so the rockers started rubbing the lobes on the cams pretty hard and wore the coating off of them. is it possible to get the lobes recoated?
he also said that he measured them and they were at the same spec as another set he had.

there are some anti-friction coatings that are commonly used on pistons to increase theyre durability and produce less friction. they are also used on other components. very popular with the domestic v8 crowd. im willing to bet you can use these coating on your cams, you may have to get the cams ground a little bit because of the wear. your best bet is to get in contact with one of the companies that does these coatings and ask them if you can use it on your cams but i think your ok

the lobe isnt really damaged, he said its just worn moreso than usual? i mean, if you can do regrinds then wouldnt it be ok?

Besides, none of you guys have any experience at all with coating cams do you? So, keep you BS opinions to yourself unless you have some evidence to back it up.

unless i really figure out this F23 crank thing, ill just have type S pistons on the stock H bottom end, prolly clean the head up 0.010", get high compression valves. should put me somewhere around 11.3 - 11.5 CR. euro R manifold hopefully. some ghetto *** header with a 2.5" collector. somthin like that. oh yeah, i ported my head too.
