I was looking at this sticky and found that the 4th gens were only about 70 pounds ligther that the 5th gens. why does everyone seem to make it out that the 5th gens are SOOOOO much heavier than the 4th gens. maybe im just talking to a lotta rhetoric spammers, but i dunno, its not that dig of a difference. plus i heard the 5th gens are weighted a larger percentage in the front, giving them better traction in the 1/4. just putting it out there, lemme know what you guys think, thanks.

After owning a 5th gen SH and now a 4th gen. I do feel a slight difference w/ performance and handling.

The 4th gen feels a little bit quicker because it's lighter. Handling is a little better also. I'm talking stock for stock here. Maybe it's just me. *shrug*

Now I know why everyone says the 4th gen is better.

Everyone blows the weight issue out of proportion. There's actually many 5th gen's that come in far below the listed weight. Though the same is probably true of the 4th gens. Either way, you'll find that they're both approximately about the same car. The 4th gen maybe a hair faster in the straight line but the 5th gen catches up if there's ever a chicane due to the body stiffness (Honda claim 40% increase) and a tad more caster in the 5th gen. In the end go with the one who's styling suits you.

BOOOO. 4th gen's rule the world, only fat people drive 5th gens. That's the weight difference - the fat drivers added to the extra 70 pound car.

Anyone else find it odd that the 4th gen autos are heavier than the manuals...but in the 5th gens the autos are lighter than the manuals? Thought that the auto would always be heavier. Does anyone know why this is?

I just realized that some of the manuals were SH's and the added weight was the Atts. But what about the base manuals, those are still heavier.

The difference is the 4th Gen weighs less and has better gearing. That's why it is a better performing car.

I love my 4th Gen. Honestly, if I had my choice of a 4th Gen or 5th Gen, same codition, etc, for the same price, I would choose the 4th. I like the front end of the 4th gen and the rear of the 5th gen.

I can't believe the 4th gen got bad reviews for the interior too. Eveyone that I know likes the interior of my car.

Both are good cars. I would choose the 4th Gen if I was looking for more performance though....which I was.

What I also noticed was, the 4th gen's VTEC stayed on all the way close to redline in 4th gear.

When I had the 5th gen, VTEC would stop immediately after 6K RPM. Maybe it's just me.

Also, the 4th gen's gearing does rock, it's awesome.

actually in stock dynos, the 5th gen keeps peak power longer than a 4th gen...4th gen stock tanks at 6800rpm, 5th gens tend to plateau across 6800-7100 and not drop off as fast.

yeah i just did the conversion to MT i lifted the MT tranny to my trucks bed but when i had to put the AT tranny and TQ into the bed it took me and a friend to do it

Ricer is essentialy an imitation racer. Which basicly we all are. But some of these guys will tell you it is someone who use's cheap performance parts(APC,Matrix) and has absolutely no taste when choosing cosmetic appearence upgrades for their car. But who's to say what is tasteful,Right??

The term ricer originated from the automotive community who were making fun of anyone souping up their 4-cylinder asian cars (rice-burners). Most of these people were installing huge, non-functional wings, body kits, scoops, obnoxious graphics, etc., and the cars tended to be slow as *****.

After a while, the people who were making decent power out of their hondas decided that they weren't ricers, and it only applied to the people who were spending $$ to make their cars look ridiculous. If you ask someone around here, this is who they will tell you ricers are. If you ask a V8 guy, however, he would probably say we all are.

personally i like the 5th gens too, and thats what i wanted to get but since i didnt have nearly the money that i need for one, i got a 4th gen and im extremely happy with it.

i think a lotta people get it into their heads that any and all body work = rice.

you can get kits that are mild OR agressive, but IMO if theyre thought out correctly, can really add the the aggressive/sleak looks of certain cars.

feel free to flame on-- i mean give your opinion on the subject everyone.
